    Default Warranty 101?

So I bought a 08 Mazda from hyundai dealership... and I'm not 100% sure on warranty info besides reading the book. I read in the warranty booklet my car was bought Aug 27 2008... so its almost 1 year... should I get some 12 month servicing done to maximize my use of warranty?

Anything I specfic need to know? Am I suppose to have some warranty card?
I don't even know if this car has an extended warranty... how do I find out?
Do I just go to a dealership and say.. "I have this problem....?"

    Thank!

If you want to find out if your car has extended warranty then take your vin number and go to your local mazda dealer and they can find out all the info on your car for you.

Your warranty is 80,000km or 3 years bumper to bumper and 100,000km or 5 years pwer train

And 5 years for corrsion unlilted KM

So the warrenty is transferable from owner to owner... as long as it's with the time frame?

I feel like this is a noob question... but this is my first car so its better to ask it anyways.

I have rust bubbles barely visible starting at the bottom of the third break light and the back right light... so if thats still under warrenty (and its obviously not from stone chips) it would be awesome to get it fixed for free

Yes the warranty is transferable from owner to owner...

Also if your car has rust then and it under 5 years old then it should be covered under warranty..take your car to your local dealer and see if it's covered

you can also buy MAP from Mazda while your car is still under the new vehicle warranty (you can't after it expires)... aftermarket warranties are crap!

Here are a few pics of the rust that I have... Just took a few shots quickly while it was still light out

Not too sure if the last one will be covered or not as it is on the lip off the hood and it could be related to previous owners being dinks with it. But I figure I might as well try and get it fixed at the same time

Your trunk should be covered and as for the hood i don't think they would..but you never know

On the one pic it looks like the paint chiped away..i don't think this would be cover but since they would be painting your trunk anyway it would get fixed

arg.. i hope i never get rust...!
so you guys just take it in and ask if its on warranty? and if they say yes then you get it done? or do they need to take your car away and "assess"

and how much is the MAP?

If i'm not mistaken the service manger snaps some pics of the rust areas then sends the pics to mazda canada for approvel..once mazda canada says yes then they book your car in to get it fixed.

    Thumbs up Re: Warranty 101?

I am considering buying an extended warranty for my 2008 Mazda 3. Any thoughts, or do you owners believe in your Mazda 3's reliability.

I also have a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer @ 130,000 km, and have had zero problems thus far, I never bought the extended waranty for it.

If you do get the MAP, it's great to have! It can save you a bundle of cash! And if you need it, it's there, if you don't then your car was great, so you can't be that upset!

It's an easy way to monitor finances,
or there's always the extended warranties with GPR, so the most you can lose is $160-200, and get the rest back if you never make a claim

    NEW QUESTION!

I'm planning to upgrade my interior lighting by adding LED footwell lights under the seats and I also I got aftermarket fogs that I need to install.

Will this void my warranty if I have some electrical problem later on and they will blame it on the mods? I read in another thread that mazda can void your warranty and refuse service because of your aftermarket parts.

Anyone have any specific experience (preferably related to messing with the electrical system)

    thanks
