We didn't build anything in my highschool auto shop, but in machine shop a friend and I built a 3 wheel go-kart powered by a 16hp snow blower engine. We used the rear axle and diff from an electric wheelchair, and the gear ratio to the engine made it a pretty fast machine. We would take it out back onto Kingston rd and it would actually pass cars. No seat belts and barely even a seat. We just put a piece of wood on top of the engine and that was the seat. It also only had one brake on the front wheel off a bicycle, which didn't work very well, was just there so the teacher would let us ride it LOL. The only way to stop it was to cut the throttle and drive it straight up the huge hill at the back field of the school.
The end of this machine was when my buddy's little brother tried driving it, and he was so light it didn't stop going up the hill. He turned it back around and went back DOWN the hill, straight into the stadium fence. Dude was alright cause he had a moto helmet, but the frame got bent up pretty bad and we didn't have enough classes to repair everything.
You guys got to do cool stuff..in my auto class we did nothing like that..
A lion would never cheat on his wife, but a Tiger Wood.
You had a highschool auto shop?! I didn't!! the only thing i made in highschool was a wooden pen holder!

Streetsville! wooot
Al my friend and I tried to made a go ped that was basically full throttle or no throttle, I love motors strapped to death traps. It's a wonder I am not dead.
We made this as well, I was the only one who could ride it though everyone else had issues with the fork weighing an absurd amount.

lol - thats cool!
We had a brand new 97 Saturn SL1 (I think?) coupe that was donated to the school because it had fallen off a transport truck. A lot of the panneling was stripped away, and the engine was cut right down the middle.
^ We had an accord and a geo like that. We took the springs right out to slam them.
K, so you know how you always hope that your school burns down?
Well mine actually did - a part of it anyways. hahahahahahahahah the autoshop/wood class caught on fire - the details of how I can't remember because it's been so long, but at least I can say that it *ACTUALLY* happened.

lol - I was told it that the trailer wasn't loaded properly, one level crushed the lower level, then 3-4 cars came tumbling out the back while on an industrial road.
lol my skewl was too cheap to have any good cars. Although there was the plan to rebuild a car... ya we got about as far as taking it all apart and then I graduated... haha Not much to say there lol
My school's autoshop had mashed up cars, but the teacher brought in a super wicked ATV they fixed.
The best part about my school? The bakery!!! That was one class I should've taken...
We had really old cars from the 90s, late 80s. Honda donated a 2000 Odessey to us. We also had a 92 Acura Legend that was the second one off the line. It was given to us brand new at the time, and that car was mint, but all busted up b/c students did work on it.
There was also a 90 Camaro with some engine mods and pipe work. That was pretty nice.

Northview Heights SS ...Best damn technical HS eva
Built several cars thru the years there, including my welding class teacher's '32 Ford with a flathead V8.
It had an Auto shop, Machine shop, body shop, weld shop, wood shop, refrigeration shop, electrical shop, electronics shop etc, etc;
They even had the best and 'first' rubberized jogging track in Canada lol.
Needless to say I had a great time in HS.
