To follow up on the success of the food drive two years ago and the chartiable nature of TM3 members it is time for the [/b]2009 Holiday Food Drive[/b]
The Plan
Collect food and cash donations at all meets from now until the holiday dinner in mid december.
I will ask that we have a few volunteers who regularly attend the various meets to collect food and remind members of the food drive. Please post up if you would like to do this.
Why
Last year over 1 million people in the GTA made use of the food bank services.
Over 1/3 of food bank clients are children.
Greatest increases in use of food bank services have come from families where members have lost jobs or had hours cut.
17% of children and 43% of adults who use food bank services go to bed hungry at least once a week.
I am sure that we don't need to here statistics to understand that this is a signficant problem that effects our city. We have an oppurtunity to help our community. I hope that we cease it.
I also hope that we raise more food and money than we did two years ago, we will let Vince's (Whitespeed3) back be the judge of that! (lol)
