    Default 2006 mazda3 aux input

    Hi,

I have a 2006 mazda3 and I would like to add an aux input so I can plug in my iPod into the car, I tried FM transmitter before and it kinda sucks. What are the options to install aux input and suggestion on how much it gonna cost and where I can get it done?

    Thanks

There are a couple options but it all depends on what you are looking for. Please search as this has been discussed plenty. If you still can't find anything we can help you out.

By letting you roam a little on your own you will learn to use the forum better.

    BTW.

Definitely lots of threads on this topic. But my fave is this:

    http://www.audiolinkcanada.com/xcart...9&bestseller=Y

If you search here you'll find "how-to" threads on how to install it when you get it. Works great. Good luck!

Hi guys, I am back again after a long absence because of other distractions.
I've searched through the forum, but mostly I found things that are do-it-yourself installation. Now, I am not very handy (if at all) with this kind of thing, so I am a bit hesitant to install this kind of thing myself, esp it involves opening and do some stuff with the car components.

I am wondering what's the next-best solution to have ipod adapter installed? Would dealership / some shop do it for you, if so approx how much? Any recommendations?

    Thank you!

I am organizing a group buy on those SylFex AuxMod here. It is very easy to install. You can probably get Dan (McGuyver) here on this forum to install it for you. I could do it as well, depending on where you are.

Here is the link to the GB

I saw this and I like it cuz it has USB as well. I'm thinking of getting the aux-mod for one of our cars and the other (this one) for the other: http://gromaudio.com/store/usb_adapt...-usb2-maz.html

Hey guys, I got my aux-mod installed, but I'm not able to feed the cable down to the ash tray. Is there a trick or do I have to remove the entire cigarette lighter console?

You guys should look into this....I have been installing them at my dealer, and put one in the wifes car for Christmas. Its a great handsfree system and plays i-pods, usb, and line-in. Also has a blue tooth audio function to play off your phone. Oh I put the Mki9000 in. All plug and play, no splicing

Thanks. I saw on Flickr and the poster claimed to insert the cable down through a string but there is no way you can insert the string into the cigarette lighter: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jbhenry/sets/1373983/

No you can't feed it through the lighter but it feeds through the ash tray compartment... Is that what you're asking? It's really easy, ive done it. You have to remove the entire centre console as shown in the link I posted, but everything just snaps into place.

Sorry, I meant through the ashtray compartment. How did you get the cable inside the ashtray while at the same time, being able to close the ashtray door?

Just an update. The removal of the trim and radio seems rather daunting at first. There certainly is a risk in breaking the trim when you're pulling it apart. Once you do pull it apart, I would recommend you grease the clips in case you will have to go back (I know I had to many times). The radio main plugs /connectors can also be a pain to remove and do require some force. Be careful when pulling them and don't pull them by the wire.

I gouged the dash panel a bit (scraped) when inserting the radio back in. You need to be extra careful when doing this. You'll need an engine noise suppressor if you plan to charge any device while listening to it. PAC is a good inexpensive brand but you may have problems finding a place to securing it. I have mine in my cup dispense with a few long male to female connectors/extenders. I dragged the wires behind the ashtray console and underneath to the gearshifter. I pulled the plug through the cup holder. I'm trying to think of a way to hide the PAC noise filter that isnt complicated to do for an idiot like me.

Has anyone managed to get the plastic wire tire under the radio/grill shield to secure the male connector? If so, how? The male connector keeps on coming loose. Black electrical tape doesn't seem to hold it in place.
