Default 1st generation Mazda3 with DSC/TRAC in Canada

I'm seeing conflicting reports that the 2009 Canadian Mazda3 models had DSC/TRAC as either an option or standard on some GT models - is this true?

I know American models had DSC as part of the Touring package as of 2008.

I'd kind of like DSC in my next car but don't really like the look of the new Mazda3.

If anyone could help that would be appreciated.

(I might have posted this in the wrong forum and apologise)

Here's a link to a brochure for the 2009 Mazda 3 - the last 1st gen model sold in Canada. DSC wasn't offered here.

I'm pretty sure it was only available on the MS3 until the 2010.

+1. Perfect enough reason to get a Mazdaspeed3 then.

Thanks guys - that's pretty much what I thought. Shame that american Mazda3 Touring models (GT models here) come with it standard.

Zoom Zoom - I might have to check out the MS3 but I read that the new MS3 (in a Toronto Star test), with an extra 50 horsepower over the new GTI was very close in acceleration with the GTI.

Shame that Mazda Canada thinks Canadians should have less safer cars than Americans.

Then again like the '09 recall of Mazda3s with DSC in the states, just another thing to FUBAR.

It's not that they are making less safe cars for Canadians, it's that they feel Americans are lazy when driving and need the extra help over us Canadians.

I second that cwp! definitely lazy

you guys know of any posts that examine why the new six speed manual has really horrible mileage compared to the five speed sportmatic in the GT sedan and GS/GT hatch?

Or in the real world is the six speed manual comparable?

Yah, I think I know the article of which you speak...

If it is the same article, then John LeBlanc clearly needs driving lessons. The guy only managed to record a time of 6.9 secs from 0 to 100kmph for the GTi and says its "0 to 100 time matches the more furious Mazdaspeed3".

If all this asshat could manage was a 6.9secs to 0 to 100kmph from the GTi and the new gen MS3, then either something was wrong with the cars, but more likely, something is wrong with him. That is so much slower than even the most conservative test results (Edmunds) for these cars. The new gen MS3 should be around 5.7 to 6.1 seconds to 0 to 100kmph and the Gti is approximately a half second slower than the MS3.

Moreover, the more you keep accelerating and the faster you go, the Gti quickly falls off the table in a head to head comparison against the MS3. Old gen, or new gen MS3. The GTi is slower, doesn't handle as well and doesn't brake as well. Some think it has a nicer interior though. LOL.
