    Default Winter Tire Size

I've got family member with some winter tires who is going to let me have them. They were only used one season and are on steel rims. I put them next to the summer tires and they looked to be a little bit lager. They are 215/60R16 will these work on my Mazda3 Sedan? They looked about half an inch bigger and wasn't sure if these would effect anything or rub.

205/55/16 is the correct tire you should be using. By using those tires your speedo will be off by 5%. So when the speedo says 100 km/h you will actually be traveling 105 km/h.

What were the winter tires/rims used on before?

Didn't have winter tires. Just got the car a few weeks ago and had the stock alloy with all seasons. Other than the speedometer being off would their be any other problems with using them or should I just go get the proper size and not take the risk?

General Rule of thumb is to stay within 3% of the factory specs.

I meant what vehicle did your family member have when they were using these. Will the rims bolt up properly?

So other than the speedo being off will these tires still work? or should I just go buy new ones?
