Was wondering if any of the audio experts on the forum can help me out with my questions.
I'd like to get some better sound quality out of my mazdaspeed 3 without touching the Bose Amp and (pathetic) sub. I was in friend of a friend's CX-7 who also had the mazda bose system but he had replaced the 4 speakers and tweeters with Infinity speakers. It sounded much better than my stock system and he confirmed that there was a noticable difference after.
Anyway, my questions are:
1) If I buy a component set for the front that comes with a cross over, do I need to use the cross or does the stock system already have a cross over in the bose unit? OR is there just a resistor on the stock tweeter to filter out lows.
2) How do you fit 6.5's up front? As I understand, the front and rears are 5x7's. Is there cutting involved? Custom adapter? I'm looking for someone who has done this work themselves who may have pics with the door trim off.
3) Is there a big difference in bass when comparing 6.5's to 5x7's? If not, should i just stick to the stock sizes? Lots of guys seem to like the 6.5 upgrade.
The guy with CX-7 doesnt know much cuz he had a shop do the work...and I dont know him well enough to take apart his door trim to look, lol!
