Lightbulb The thread to end all "will this Manufacturer wheel fit my Mazda3" threads

Below is a reference guide showing other manufacturers that use the OEM 5x114.3 Bolt Pattern, with an offset matching 42-45

Keep in mind that the list was compiled when I was searching for 16"x7 winters rims to fit my 2005 Mazda 3

Also keep in mind that the center bores vary from each listed manufacturer wheel and may require the wheels to be bored out to 67.1 (or larger) or require the use of a hubcentric ring to fit our cars.

Your Mazda3 or Mazdaspeed3 (and any other late model Mazda, in fact) requires wheels with these basic specs:
    - 5x114.3 bolt patten
    - 67.1mm hub bore*
    * larger hub bore wheels can also be used (e.g. 73mm, a very common hub bore), however hubcentric centering rings are recommended for fitting wheels with a larger hub bore to ensure correct centering.
    - Wheel diameter between 16" and 20"*
    * the 2.0L "i" Mazda3 can also fit 15" wheels, but 2.3L or Mazdaspeed3 models cannot. Also, 16" wheels are a very tight fit over the MS3 front brakes, it's possible that not ALL 16" wheels will work on an MS3. Wheel diameters larger than 20" may be possible, but the paper-thin tire sizes required for proper fitment would make the car very impractical and uncomfortable to drive.

The other two factors in wheel fitment are width and offset. OEM 17" wheels have an offset of 52.5mm and width of 6.5". In general, the wider you go, the lower the offset needs to be in order to clear the suspension components. These two factors, width and offset, are the most variable components of wheel fitment, compared to all the other variables which are pretty much set in stone.

"Safe" upgraded fitment -- these will work with any model, retain the correct speedometer readings etc just like OEM, and work in all conditions without any fender modification required.

17x7" wheels with an offset between +45 to +54
17x7.5" wheels with an offset between +47 to +50

The recommended tire size for these 17" common upgrades on a Mazda3 is 225/45/17. The recommended tire size for these 17" common upgrades on a Mazdaspeed3 is 235/45/17.

18x7" wheels with an offset between +45 to +54
18x7.5" wheels with an offset between +47 to +52
The recommended tire size for these 18" common upgrades on a Mazda3 is 225/40/18. The recommended tire size for these 18" common upgrades on a Mazdaspeed3 is 235/40/18. The 7.5" is strongly recommended over the 7" for an MS3.

Moderately aggressive fitment -- these are fitments that push the OEM fender envelope, so to speak. Depending on what suspension you're running and how much weight is in your car, you may or may not need to roll your rear fenders to make these work.

17x8" wheels with an offset between +40 to +50
17x8.5" wheels with an offset between +42 to +48

The recommended tire size for these 17" common upgrades on a Mazda3 is 225/45/17. The recommended tire size for these 17" common upgrades on a Mazdaspeed3 is 235/45/17.

18x8" wheels with an offset between +40 to +50
18x8.5" wheels with an offset between +42 to +48
The recommended tire size for these 18" common upgrades on a Mazda3 is 245/35/18. The recommended tire size for these 18" common upgrades on a Mazdaspeed3 is 255/35/18. The 8.5" is recommended over the 8" for an MS3; you could alternately stretch some 235/40/18 tires (the MS3 tire recommendation for narrower wheels) onto these wider wheels.

    Truly aggressive fitment
Wider wheels (9" - 10") can also be fitted, with an offset in the +35 to +45 range, however a very good fender roll and perhaps a minor pull will DEFINITELY be required, and significant additional negative camber over OEM recommendations will also likely be required in order to avoid the wheels "poking" out of the fenders.

Will the 5x114.3 bolt pattern work for the 2010 Mazda 3 as well?

What about 17x7" wheels with an offset of 40? I only see 45+ as safe...

I believe 35-45 is the threshold IIRC

bolt pattern is the same - but IIRC the center bore is smaller on the IS300
You can either have a shop bore it out. Boreing can run you between $100-200 for the set.
You can also get a set of 3-5mm spacers to make it fit You can get non-hubcentric spacers for about $5-10/pair (Hubvcentric is more expensive)

I think so, as long as you purchase hub rings. Bolt pattern on both is 5*114.3, but bore size on the 3 is 67 vs. 64.1 on the Acura.

Where do i get hub rings? Are they expensive?
or am I better off taking the rubber off the steels and putting them on the rims I have that already fit the TSX?
(I just didn't want to go thru the hassle)

Hub rings retail for about $20/set
Not required to make them fit - but you'll save yourself in the long run. They're used so that the stress does not sit on the lugs alone.

Most shops that sell aftermarket rims will have these hub rings in stock. I actually might have some sittin in my garage at home. Do you know if an RSX Ctr bore is the same?

    So 5 x 100 from a 2001 Chevy Cavalier won't work?

What is the difference from 5 X 100 and 5 x 114.3? I see rims with both those in the details.

Sorry... also, I was going to do 15" wheels, with 195/65R15. The guy from Canadian Tire said it would work because the extra sidewall would compensate for the 17" and low profile sidewall. And would make it MUCH cheaper, about $500 cheaper.

But above, and somewhere else I read that it wouldn't fit the brakes?

Any rim smaller than a 16" will not clear the calipers on a 3 with the 2.3/2.5L engine, which unfortunately, is where your GT falls.

I was so excited when I found out about the so-called 15" with bigger sidewall option, SOOO much cheaper! Tires and rims... Guess back to the drawing board and looking at 16" with 205/55 ... about $20 more a tire looks like it.

Thanks for the clarification! Saved me time and money, was hunting Kijiji down for rims which if I bought wouldn't have been able to use!

the spacing between the bolts. 5x100 means 5 bolts spaced 100mm apart. Our Mazdas require 5 bolt pattern spaced 114.3mm apart

On some aftermarket allow rims, there are dual 5-bolt pattern which accomodate both 5x100 AND 5x114.3. They will have 10 holes
Often they are 70mm ctr bore and require a hubcentric ring to fit snugly on the hub (and not add all the stress on the lugs)

    Steelies should fit.
Tires - not so much. Looks like the overall diameter will be too big

    Hey guys,
the 3 is 67.1 bore right?
If the rim I want is 72.6, what will I need to do to make it work?
    Just hub centric rings?

Edit: nvm, read mroe posts above.

How about the new 2012 ford focus? I like those rims a lot, they are 205/55/r17... I'm guessing they'd fit, not too sure about the rub in the sidewall would happen or not because of wider rims..

    I haven't seen / don't know the specs of the '12 Focus.

But if IIRC - the bolt pattern is the same as the Taurus (5x108) and WILL NOT fit the Mazda3.

    But I could be wrong

The tire size has a taller sidewall profile, but not by much

Looking on some Fast Wheels on Kijiji and the info was these:

    Size:17x8" bolt pattern: 5x120mm - Offset: 40

Will this fit on a 2nd Gen mazda 3. Stock height.
    Tnx.
