Removing Console Lid

Does anyone know if the console lid can be removed without pulling out the whole console? I think the hinge is held in place by the console bit (which is screwed in from underneath) but I want to be sure before I pull the whole console out. (Not hard, but getting the cigarette-lighter panel out with scratching things up is a pain).

im almost 100% sure that it has to be completely removed and then unscrewed from the bottom. sorry man. hope u figrue it out

Well, I got it removed. Entire centre console needs to come apart to allow the top portion of the lid to swing far enough back to allow access to the hinge screws. Removing the cigarette lighter panel wasn't as bad as I feared... easier than the first time when I did the short shifter. Unclipping the inner lid from the outer part on the other hand was a real PITA.
