Default Drink Holder glow - with pics

So this is what you can get done in about 60mins, after your kids are in bed.

I tried to post the pics, but even in the test forum, they won't show... I'm using imageshack. And I think I read somewhere, I need to surpass 100 posts to edit?

Reason your pics aren't working is because you're linking to the webpage with the pics.

EDIT:

if you could add a momentary switch into the whole thing that would be good, then the led would only light once the lid is opened.

looks good i may give it a try

with the lid closed you hardly see anything. The way the water bottle lights up is making you think it's really bright. I used 2x 3mm 45* 4500mcd LEDs from SuperbrightLEDS.com and aimed them horizontal.

It was really easy to do

EDIT:
yah I had to post it like this because with the command I only saw the "red X box". and I didn't want to get flamed for it. I did try the FAQs and searched, but found nothing specific to why it wasn't working for me even thought I had the correct syntax.

So I've read how to remove the door panels, seems simple enough... maybe will do door drink holders soon. If I can locate switched power within the doors themselves. Then I'll do footwell glow (but for me that's sooo 8yrs ago or TwoThousand and late, as Fergie says)

so off topic - I find search sucks in here <meh - shruggs shoulders>, and much of the pics are gone or the post is 2-4yrs old!

wire them to the cigarette light "light" there's a ring around it that lights up with the parking lights. the trim is easy to remove to get in there

It would be easier...use the power from your center arm rest..... runs right through the area, I think.

you mean vampire taps? sure you can... it doesn't really matter where you get your power from. I wanted mine to turn on with my parking (and interior console) lights.

Thats pretty cool man!!!!

I have few ideas for this mod.
How about a sensor in each cup holder that will detect drink in and light up led when bottle is in.
Another idea would be simple circuit with a mic and op-amps which would pick up basse and light up leds to the basse.
instead of a mic you could directly hook it up to audio out for better preformance.

Another cool thing would be making a clear plastic tube that fits the cup holderr perfectly, then LEDs underneath it or beside it, it would illuminate the entire tube and the drink.

er, yes? haha, I'm not really sure which connectors I should be using. I'm thinkin those red ones that snap closed with pliers. I think it has a metal element that cuts through the insulation of the wires to create a contact? I know it doesn't matter where power comes from. +12V is +12V regardless. I think it makes more sense to have them come on with the parking lights though.

The problem with those is that when you put a cup/bottle in the holder, it'll sit on top of the ring. Not what I'm lookin for.
