Smile Crystal White Pearl or Silver Aluminum Metallic?

Hey everyone, I'm just looking for your thoughts on which color would be better on a Mz3 Sport GT (hatchback). I'm looking for a color that is relatively easy to take care of and touch up but also looks hot at the same time. I've pretty much narrowed it down to these two colors. I've seen both colors in person in dark and light conditions and I am on the fence on them both. White is nice but the paint chips show up as black and are more noticeable. Silver hides the chips better and seems to be more of a classier color. But white is hot but I saw the thread about the industrial fallout. My idea of fun isn't claybarring a car for hours. I need your opinions! I've already ordered the car in silver but since its at sea still I can change the color according to the dealer. Thanks for your input!

Silver. Just take a look at how many CWP's are on this site. *Turns and runs*

Between the two I think white looks the best. Although you say you want something that is easy to take care of, so I'd recommend the silver.

Hmmm, my original conventional thinking is that I buy a color for it's looks + maintenance. But now, I'm thinking I should just get the color I like, and not worry so much about the maintenance. It doesn't help that the Audi R8 Spyder in IronMan 2 is white and looks hot!

was just kidding... cwp looks realy good if you have the patience to keep it looking new, i know you already did ur research about how high maintenance cwp is... silver looks really good too... you just see a lot of it like the cwp's. at the end of the day, you'll decide which one you really want and that will be the better color for you that will make you happy

Good Info. Lol. Yeah, you're right I've done my research but it's a toss up. CWP make me happier but when I look at silver it makes more sense. It's like CWP is that super hot gf who is super high maintenance (almost another full time job). Silver is the girl next door, easier to get along with but cute at the same time.

After a Wash, Clay, Polish and Wax, its hard to compete with how the CWP looks. I love to stare at mine when its clean. It was between that and Phantom Blue for me, and the CWP won me over...

    +1 ^

The pearl in the CWP is so nice and I get a lot of compliments on it. Yes it shows everything, especially the fallout. So you clay bar it twice a year (6 hours total) and wax it. Not a big deal.

Silver is really easy to care for and if I was buying a car solely for transportation from A to B and to be as maintenance free as possible that would be my choice.

Wow..... I gave my car the spring wash, clay, and wax last week....... 1.5hrs total. I'll admit I was being a lot less anal than in previous years, but still! Even the first wash, clay, polish, and wax when I first brought the car home was only 4 hours!

CWP would be my choice since thats my color but if you can't put in the effort to keep it clean, stick with the silver. A clean white car looks amazing! Good luck making a decision

I'm telling you right now, the compliments you will get when running a CWP Mz3 will totally make it worth the time it takes to make it look beautiful.

+1. The amount of looks you will get on while on the road will be insane!

'Hot' and low maintenance don't typically go hand in hand. CWP for looks, silver if you want an easy job keeping it clean.

Thumbs down Re: Crystal White Pearl or Silver Aluminum Metallic?

I'm sure the decision has already been made, and this thread has been dropped, but because my wife and I just ordered our new 3 today (GT with luxury pack) I thought I'd weigh in.

This will be our 8th Mazda, and the third white one. We've had 626s, a Protege, a previous 3 (a genuine accident magnet) and our beloved 04 RX8 GT. We have on occasion settled for colours that were not our first choice simply because our choice wasn't readily available, or because we were the only people on the continent who seemed to want our combination.

We began with a beige 80 626 after which we've gone white, grey (boring, an autobox, 2nd hand and cheap), white, dark green, midnight silver (the RX in the driveway), carbon grey (at the wreckers) and the new pearl white (on order).

Keeping in mind that I'm a bit older than many of the other members of this forum, my first choice was the copper red. I think it looks quite distinguished, doesn't show darker forms of dirt, and will age well. Originally we had been leaning toward the aluminum. It shows well in all light and would look at home next to the RX. I have found the midnight silver to be a great colour for hiding light dirt, dust and dings. I was also impressed by the black for a number of reasons. It does disguise the smiley face on the new 3 better than anything, if that's your goal. Besides, as Gino Vanelli knew, black cars look better in the shade.

So, of course, we ordered white. The dealer (Guelph City) knocked of the silly $200 premium and the white really does look good. It doesn't show the most common Canadian dirt (winter road crap) as much as darker colours do. Besides, we have very fond memories of our previous white M's and hope this one will continue this trend.

Buy what makes you happy. Drive like a very careful bat exiting hell. And watch out for those morons in pickup trucks.

For those interested, that's the copper red mica. I also considered a black 2010 GT hatch for the same reason, but ultimately ended up with my Carbon Grey Mica hatch, which is the perfect compromise between my tendency to buy dark coloured cars and the need to maintain their appearance.

Still, I can totally appreciate hot looking colours and white ranks at the very top for the bright side of the spectrum. I personally find that silver is a bit... overdone, there are way too many silver cars out there. Even white is a bit overdone, but at least I feel that a white hatch with dark tints and nice rims stands out head and shoulders above the silver version.

    It's a NICE silver.

I have a silver Civic Si, and my wife's new 3 is Silver. The 3's silver is a really nice silvery-grey. I'd go silver.

Besides, white cars ALWAYS look dirty unless you wash them every day.

This is true of black as well... infact even worse. black can be clean but if it has not been buffed it still looks like shit...

The two best looking colours require the most care... imo its worth it.
