Well, I'm a Montrealer transplanted to Calgary, so I'm sure to most of you, that puts me on my third strike already. I'll have to watch myself. I hope you don't mind somebody hanging around who's from further west than Mississauga.

The forums in Calgary ridiculously Honda-scentric (and everybody know they're the disease vector for the dreaded virus Ricer-itus). I creeped the forum, and you guys have a good community, and I've seen some really nice cars posted. It's nice to see a forum where every thread doesn't have a Honda chassis code listed in it somewhere.

I'm a relatively new owner of my first car I've ever picked for myself, rather than being the right deal at the right time. I've always wanted a wagon, and now I have it. I love my 3 Sport, and I can't wait to do some more custom stuff to it.

So far the mods have been pretty sparing. I've done a 30% on the windows behind the b-frame. Despite the risk of tickets from the local heat, I'll probably tint the driver and passenger door to match in the next couple of months. I've removed the "3" and added a JDM Axela badge, which was really the first thing to make it "mine". I'm going to repaint the shifter plate which the finish was badly worn in when I bought it and if that goes well, I'll think about doing some matching interior accents. I'd like to do some footwell lights too, even though they are so very turn of the century.

Anyways, that's me in a nutshell. I'm looking to learn lots and contribute whenever I can.

Sounds like you've got some fun and interesting times lined up. Keep us posted on your mods and welcome (I'm from somewhere on the outer edge of the universe too).

Welcome to the club! I think you'll be fine with 30% tints.

Welcome to TM3! Don't forget that Alberta maybe has different tint laws than Ontario?

They do indeed. There's no tint permissable in front of the b-frame: "69(1) A person shall not install, replace or cover the window glazing in a windshield or in a left or right side window of a motor vehicle that is beside or forward of the driver with a transparent, translucent or opaque material."

Roll down your windows, turn off the stereo, put your hands on the wheel and leave them there until they ask you to give them your L, R and PoF and I can avoid it pretty easily by being polite and respectful. It can result in a $58 unauthorized equipment tag, and they tend to only hand it out if they're looking to pile on the tags because you got a bit too snippy. I did get a ticket from the Sheriffs (think OPP, but just doing highway patrol) just south of the city. That night I got a call from the issuing Sheriff saying I looked familiar asking if I had served with him as an MP in the Forces. I said no, told him where I worked and that's where he probably recognized me from, and he tossed the ticket for me. It's good to work closely with law enforcement.

I'll take it for a wash tomorrow and post up some pics. I might even have that shift plate done by then too.

Now you should do all the other trim pieces to match.

    That's the idea.

The shifter guide plate was pretty banged up when I first got it, so it's been something I've been thinking about doing for months. I'm not overly confident when it comes to tearing apart the doors and dash though. I'm also having a hard time deciding if I should spray the silver stuff, the gun metal stuff or both (i think I'm better off with one or the other). Suggestions or links would be awesome.

I've had a bit of sticking with the shifter in "semi-automatic" though. If I bump it up or down, it tends to stick, unless I give it a bit of help back to the center position. Doesn't effect function, but I'm going to tear it apart again in a few days after the paint has had a few days to fully cure. I'll shoot it with a few coats of clear too.
