    Default "X, Y or Z Plan" VS "M Plan"

With the sale of Ford's share of Mazda stock comes the discontinuation of X-Plan Pricing.

Known as a no haggle way of buying a car it really only saved a consumer money when the car was a highly sought after that wasn't really discounted to any extent by dealers. Typically all said and told, it worked out to $400-$600 off MSRP.. and it could not be combined with Grad rebate..

It also provided the dealer with a replacement unit for the one sold meaning it didn't come out of their allocation. Win for the dealer.

    That being the case..

It's replacement program is the M-Plan and it is available to Mazda Supplier/Partner Full Time employees..

    ie: IBM, Bombardier, etc...

It breaks down to dealer invoice (which includes freight and air tax) + 2% plus pdi ($555 for a Mazda3) it works out to around $400 - $500 over depending on the model.

Deal still qualifies for all other incentives including GRAD, Cash Incentive, First Time Buyer etc

    Again with everything else... YMMV
    Damn you photobucket.....

Jeff, I assume you're in the business of wheeling and dealing. When I go to carcost to look up the invoice price is that really the price that dealers pay?

My wife has a corporate plan where she only pays 2% over invoice pricing. I've walked in to a dealership and they told me that they can knock off $2K off the sticker if I pay cash. Isn't $2K off the sticker already below invoice pricing? So what is the actual cost of the vehicle that the dealer pays?

the extra 2k comes from you not financing the vehicle and it comes off before tax. So for your wife I assume it would be invoice + 2% - 2k off. Add tax and the extra fees to that number should be OTR. Go see Jeff and he'll give you a really good price.

I don't see how you can get any good deals paying cash... dealers make money from financing too! if it's too good to be true, it usually is!

0% financing isn't really 0%, the interests for you to finance for "0%" over 5 years it is sorta included with the cost of the vehicle. Thus why the higher price the vehicle the more cash back.

Plus, they need to give people a reason to pay them cash, if there weren't any cash incentives, why wouldn't everyone buying a car go with the 0% financing if paying buy cash is the same price?

BUT if you do have a mortgage or something, it is wise to put money into that, and finance the car even if you do have the cash to buy out a car.

On the 0%, 1.9% etc.. there is no monitary commission however dealers are required by omvic to disclose that there is a points program in place by BNS.. after x number of contracts submitted, I get pass to a movie, or a gas card..etc

On the higher rates 6.95%, 18.%% etc... there is a bonus paid back to the dealer for the contract.

Cash deals (if you have it) and being an informed buyer tend to get you the best deals, sites like Car Cost Canada, APA (Automobile Protection Agency) these are great places to help the average person become an informed buyer.
Once you have all the information on a particular vehicle finding the right dealership and the right salesperson and not being in a rush will also help in getting the best deal.
Financing and Leasing do not get you the best deals although they are most likely the most popular. Most people just do not have the cash for an outright buy.

Interesting thread. I'm looking to buy the sky-gs. I have the cash to pay. But I see no cash incentives from dealer yet. Should I wait?

I know the Invoice price + tax - incentive + around 300 will be awesome.

    Hi Jeff,

Does the M-Plan only apply to people buying a car? Or does it also apply to people leasing?

    Thank you
