I think Quy and Metal Coaters just lost a shitload of business this winter LOL!
damn, I might just do this and keep my RX8's, especially if I can manually sand the bad curb rashes off!
^^ LMAO just like that. i have the jungle green donkey kong edition.
Glad you like it Stealth. And it turned out pretty nice too. Do you have any left overs?

Lol, that gives me an idea..... Maybe I'll do two tone; black with red accents, or black with blue accents.... Hmmm.... I wonder if doing a layer or two of the clear will give it a glossy look.... I think I'd end up doing 3-4 coats plus 1-2 of the clear. How many cans would that require?

As i said before. The clear is not glossy. Its a matte clear.
Hmmmm....... I think I'm going to be doing some experimenting this week....
Well i used 1 can per rim. That gave me about 2 heavy coats. If i had to use anymore than 1 can per rim, i would just get the rims powdercoated instead.
I'm thinking of doing this to me OEM rims too for winter.
But will it be worse for the rim if salt gets stuck between the Plasti dip and the rim?

I just cleaned them with soap and water and then made sure they were dry before applying the plasti-dip
Well the more you put on the easier it will come off.
I think 4 is more then the norm. I've read most use about 3 cans, for 3 coats on each wheel.
i just started doing mine, and im going to need one can per rim too
my rims were black so it need more coats for sure
Just did the first coat, and finished a can.
Ended up finding some white cans at HH

Good job Thanu. Keep us update on this. Im very interested to see. Shouldn't u remove your sheets between the rim and tires so that the plasti dip does not harden and stick to the paper?
Also, I take it that you will also spray the inside of the rim too right?
i didnt spray the inside of the rim. If you want to do that expect to use more than 1 can per rim.
yea, i dont plan on doing the insides much.i dont want to buy more than 4 cans.
Im doing all visible areas like the insides of the spokes.
ohh, the cards, true, yea i guess i should remove them, im just waiting 40mins before applying second coat
Oh and for anyone looking, they have 3 red cans, 3 yellow and 3 blacks at warden and finch HH - $14.99
