Lol, that gives me an idea..... Maybe I'll do two tone; black with red accents, or black with blue accents.... Hmmm.... I wonder if doing a layer or two of the clear will give it a glossy look.... I think I'd end up doing 3-4 coats plus 1-2 of the clear. How many cans would that require?

Well i used 1 can per rim. That gave me about 2 heavy coats. If i had to use anymore than 1 can per rim, i would just get the rims powdercoated instead.

I'm thinking of doing this to me OEM rims too for winter.

But will it be worse for the rim if salt gets stuck between the Plasti dip and the rim?

I just dont see how salt would even get in between......its impossible unless it starts to peel and then salt will get in.

Unless you didn't clean your rims before you started and there was salt on them.
Speaking of which, what prep work did you do on your rims before starting stealth?

I just cleaned them with soap and water and then made sure they were dry before applying the plasti-dip

The more you put on, the easier it is to remove since it wont break as easily as one layer. You're essentially peeling more off with every pull.

I think 4 is more then the norm. I've read most use about 3 cans, for 3 coats on each wheel.

Good job Thanu. Keep us update on this. Im very interested to see. Shouldn't u remove your sheets between the rim and tires so that the plasti dip does not harden and stick to the paper?

Also, I take it that you will also spray the inside of the rim too right?

i didnt spray the inside of the rim. If you want to do that expect to use more than 1 can per rim.
