Default Disable door "alarm" and getting a new FOB

I have managed to loose my OEM keyless entry for my '04 Mazda3 and have two questions:
    1. Can you reset the pesky door alarm by just reseting the ECU, can I simply turn it off somehow without pulling the battery?
    2. Where can I buy a new FOB (besides the dealership which I'm sure will be $$$)?

I did some searching and I think I found out how to program a new clicker, is this the correct method?:
-Open driver side door and leave open.
-Lock and Unlock the drivers door using the power door lock switch on the door
    -Insert key into the ignition.
-Turn Key to ON position and return to Lock (off) position. Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. LEAVE key in the ignition in Lock (off) position.
-Close and open the drivers door 3 times. Leave door open after this step
-ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors once.
-Press any button on remote #1 twice. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.
-Additional remotes, repeat Step 7 for up to 3 remotes total.
-Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series (about 4) of door locks and unlocks. You're done!

Thank you all for your help, this problem has become quite annoying.

To reset the ecu u Have to disconnect the - from the battery. check out some auto wreckers or ebay, make sure the new key fob fcc code matches your old one

What if I don't know the old FOB's FCC code (I lost the FOB)? Will most FOBs from an '04 Mazda3 work?

I dunno, but i would like to think if you call mazda and give them your Vin, they would be able to tell you the code. It has to be the same code as your old one

    Wicked! Thanks for this!

I see that there are some on the web with this ID, can they only be coded once or can I buy one and reprogram over the old coding? Would a wrecker have them?

Hmmm I didn't know that. I don't see any affiliate dealers in my area though; I'm up in the Barrie. But I will try out Northwood's and see what they quote me. As for my door alarm problem I will wait till tomorrow to see if clearing the ECU reset it. I don't think my neighbor would like me very much if my horn went off at 9:30PM

So I figured out the alarm problem. To disarm with only a key turn and hold the key to the unlock position on the driver's side door for about four seconds. Works like a charm!
