did you get the stg1 or stg2? you must be brave trying something like a hpfp completely untested
bah hahaha.. reflecting on how horrible my last year has been but I must say, this was a fun night...

Oh damn, that sucks. Oh well, I stopped reading the Speed section because according to certain people only speed owners are allowed to even look at that section.

@mazda3t. I'm assuming you are already running a stage 2 ots Map right now as you said you are waiting on a pro tune. Why you have no pump internals bro? And it prob isn't the bpv leaking. The ots maps have a mean reverse boost taper. Hitting peak around 4-5k then tapering back down by redline. If memory serves I think an ots "stage 2" map targets 19psi then tapers to 16 by redline or something gay like that.

I would've also strayed away from an unknown pump company... Autotech is the number one and I wouldn't suggest any other. I've installed many internals in the last few years. All but one set were autotechs. The other was kmd. You get what you pay for, simple as that. When it comes down to a car running for a long time without issue, to a set of internals that "could" fail and make the engine run lean and zzb.... I wouldn't take the chance. It's 400 bucks of insurance. I'll put them in for free FFS.
I guess someone has to try something different. This is also an entirely new fuel pump vs. Just replacing the internals. Similar to cp-e
No I'm currently running ots stage 1 93 map. I know not to run stage 2 until I get internals but with this company I'm going with, its a whole new pump. Internals are what 3-500$ shipped. Hpfp upgrade sell a whole unit for 549$ and a core charge of 350$. Cant go wrong there, unless of course the pump doesn't hold up but I have good feeling this pump will be great. Besides I haven't heard of anyone local trying it out so I might be the first.

Fair enough. Nothing wrong with trying something new I suppose. Just keep an eye on your fuel pressure for a while lol. Just be careful. A stage 1 map will still pull more fuel than the stock pump can handle. Just because Cobb says it will be ok, doesn't mean it will. I watched a healthy, unmolested Pu dip into the 1600's right as soon as the map was flashed and ran. That was with only an intake and tip. That test pipe will also yield quicker spool, resulting in more fuel needed at low rpm.
I put a full exhaust on my pu when I got it. Fuel pump couldn't keep up.

What year is yours @mazda3t
@thrizzle you better be dynoing on day 2. Along with @Fack_Dude. Man up bitches. I ran with a blown k04. #hibracecarnocare
tanspeed3 (05-01-2014)
You're correct.
The pump isn't stronger.. its just a different fuelling logic in the Gen 2's.
Did anyone have any significant wearing in their cam followers? I heard with increased fuel demands its likely cam followers wear faster..
I think he is reading too much on HPFPupgrade.com
@mazda3t stop reading the BS on internet that people use to market their own products. MSF has been testing the crap out of autotechs and CS internals (not as much testing but still goo results) with a very small percentage of failures.
IMHO, just get some autotechs and have someone who has installed them before do it for you.
