Well a big thanks to WeatherB I now have a DH. It's been great to play with and monitor goings on. The Knock on mine is set to the Alerts as well.

I work in London during the week and on my drive in Monday morning (@5:30am) the knock alarm went nuts........for most of the drive. Would be fine for a couple minutes than be anywhere between 1 (where the alarm goes off) up to a high of 6. I appear to be fine on city streets. I know knock is a serious issue with our cars, so I guess I'm asking is this somewhat normal for cruising at 120-125? at what point do I need to go to a dealer? is this an issue stemming from something like a SRI? or 94 octane?

You can ignore that partial throttle knock, if you watch closely you'll notice that it goes up to 5.9 and then slowly starts to count down to 0 if you hold the gas in the same position.

People on the US forum believe that is just the engine adjusting the timing to the optimal level.

Pay closer attention to any knock under WOT.

do not be afraid of knock.

part throttle knock is the car hunting for its peak efficiency...your car is designed to do that...at around the 2800 - 4200 rpm....in fact, when it knocks in this range, up to 5.9, it's the car going thru its learning cycle.

    try this.

when it hits 5.9, stay on it, at exactly the same throttle. it'll come downm gradually, and incrementally. hmmm...what is it doing? nothing else changed...same throttle, same speed...something to think about.

the only knock to be afraid of is WOT knock or idling knock...idling knock is bad...WOT knock is bad.

Everything else is the car trying to save you gas...if you let it go through its learning cycles like I said above, you can then pay attn to how often it comes back...

    wtf

    information entanglement is fact!...lol...

Entanglement = as in the theory that physically separate and distanced particles, sharing the same effects and information...or something along those lines.

Is there a mount for the 2010's yet? I like the idea of a nice clean place to put it but haven't seen anything yet.

Also, where are people buying their dashhawks?

Time to figure out logging. Is there a better way to start datalogging with the DH, other than the following procedure listed in the manual? Ideally I'd like to just be able to hit "enter" from the monitoring screen before I hit an on-ramp.

    Starting the Data Logger
    START:
    1. Press MENU to select MAIN MENU
    2. Select Diagnostics and press ENTER
    3. Select DataLogger Start and press ENTER
    4. Select File Number to record
    5. The DataLogger progress bar will indicate progress. The DataLogger will automatically stop when the capacity is full OR you can Press MENU (Repeat) to EXIT the current Display back to Start

    I plan to log:
RPM, Boost/Vac, Load, FuelPressDI, Act AFR and Knock. Tips? Do I need actual TPS in there too? (max 6 params logging)

TPS basically tells you that you're on it completely. I forgot my logging procedure with the DH. Tho logging with the DH is likely more graphically pleasingand maybe easier to graph, it mkaes it a little harder to compare logs to other AP users....nothing wrong with it tho! The one thing to keep in mind, is the less variables you log, the faster it should log. So start off with maybe a couple more so you know that they are stable, then remove them once you're ok with it.

UPDATE: I received the DH mount from Brian at aftermarketgaugepods.com (located near Windsor). For $34 shipped I am pretty happy! Probably not as good quality as the CP-e one but it fits well and looks nice.

    http://shop.aftermarketgaugepods.com...Mount-M3DH.htm

It has the holes for the defrost vent so your side window won't fog up.

For the price the quality is very good. A few minor issues to report:
    - Installation instructions and 3M double-sided tape were not included as indicated on the website (no big deal to me, it's not rocket science and I had tape laying around).
    - I found that the quick detach plate that the DH mounts to didn't want to snap in to the pod base. I used a pocket knife to slice out a few tiny shavings off the bottom hole and then it didn't clip into place at all (whoops, my bad). So I used velcro to attach it. Problem solved!

Overall though I'm VERY happy with the look and especially the price point.

Edit: I should also mention the customer service there is fantastic. Emails were returned promptly and he even followed up after I received it to see how it worked out for me. 5 stars for keeping some business in Ontario.

Edit: Pic of finished 5-minute install:

Sorry for the crappy quality. Was in a rush.

Mine won't let me set the alert values on the device(as I do not have a pc) for knock retard, any greater than 0 for all stages of alerts. It's pissing me off the ennth degree.

How did you get the Mazda Speed logo on the start up screen that is awesome!!!

I found the data on the DH graphically pleasing but to compare with other AP user is difficult due to software format for logging.
