    Default Replacing Bose Speakers

Kromer tells me that replacing the Bose speakers in my 2007 MS3 has to be done by the dealer. Is that right?

One of the front door speakers is buzzing and crackiing. This is the second fail - the first was replaced under warranty. I took it to Kromer expecting them to recommend a replacement speaker but was told they couldn't do it as the speaker is 1 ohm and most of the replacements are 4 ohm.

Can anyone please confirm that advice?

If you want a direct replacement, they may be right. Many people when moving to after market speakers also add an amplifier.

Bose speakers are 2.15 Ohm. There are used unusual twitters with them, connected in parallel, so they show 1.4 Ohm. JBL ,Infinity as well as other brands make two ohm components.
There is another problem. The bose amplifier has an equalized signal to correspond to those twitters and it’s unclear how it will be sounding with standard components.

Try searching the car audio section at http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org. I remember some guy posting about swapping his Bose speakers out.
