    Smile New member from Durham

Will be picking up a 2011 GS sport in a few days from Whitby Mazda. Can't wait...overall dealership experience was adequate and the deal was good.

It's the first MT that I've owned, and probably the third MT I've ever driven. Since the other MTs that I drove were all trucks, I really have nothing to compare it to.

I curious to know your opinions on the 3's MT and clutch setup compared to other cars in the same segment. I test drive a AT Civic and a AT Genesis. No MT demos were available in either.

My first impressions were that things in the Mazda MT are setup well, but my 1-2 shifts on the test drive were..well...lets just say they were as smooth as I want them to be.

My brother is a die hard Mazda fan and convinced me to take the plunge...

    Feedback appreciated.

Unfortunately, my Mazda is the first MT I've ever owned, so no point of reference from me. However, considering we both have the 6 speed, I'll agree that the 1-2 shift does take a little longer to get used to.

    Welcome

I test drove the 2011 Mazda GS and GT. 6sp.
Comparing with an Integra, which was my last manual car, the clutch is definatly lighter. Easier to drive this car in traffic, thats for sure.
Considering my Integra had roughly 270,000km, on stock clutch and transmission, the Mazda is well, easier to learn to drive manual.

My girlfriend didnt like to learn on the Integra cuz the clutch was heavy and it was harder to switch gears to make the smooooth transfer. The Mazda is wayyy easier for newbs to learn how to drive manual I currently have a 2008 Mazda3 GT. I find that when I drive now, I shift around 2.3-2.5k from 1st to 2nd and the Integra I went to 2.5k-3k.
