Hey guys,
After a few weeks of consideration, I've decided to finance a mazda 3, but read a few articles about 2012 models coming out with the new engine that increases fuel efficiency and horsepower. I'm mostly concerned with the fuel economy.
The mazda.ca website says...
"Mazda has stated that its goal is to improve fuel efficiency by 30 percent by 2015 (compared to 2008 levels)"
Comparing the 2008 models to the 2011 models (Mazda 3 GS, on auto123.com)
2008: 8.4 city and 6.1 highway
2011: 8.1 city and 6.0 highway
Granted there's a 30% increase, we would get...
2012: 5.88 city and 4.27 highway (which sounds crazy...the only thing that's iffy is that it says by 2015)
From that fact alone, the 30% fuel efficiency increase is spanned over 7 years.
This means that the 2012 models won't be nearly efficient...although I'm sure there will be improvements.
There's not a big difference comparing the 2011 to 2012 then, but is it worth waiting for the 2012?
