    Hey,

how do the 215/45/18's fit on the 18x8 inch rims?

i'm looking to get 18x8's for my ms3 but I would like to reuse the stock tires.

anyone have any thoughts on this??

Sometimes when i have the wheel turned all the way, i get paranoid that it'll rub the inside.

    some more info
    Section Width

Following the letter(s) that identify the type of vehicle and/or type of service for which the tire was designed, the three-digit numeric portion identifies the tire's "Section Width" (cross section) in millimeters.

    P225/50R16 91S

The 225 indicates this tire is 225 millimeters across from the widest point of its outer sidewall to the widest point of its inner sidewall when mounted and measured on a specified width wheel. This measurement is also referred to as the tire's section width. Because many people think of measurements in inches, the 225mm can be converted to inches by dividing the section width in millimeters by 25.4 (the number of millimeters per inch).

    225mm / 25.4 = 8.86"

Well thats the "easy" way to look into it. but in reality its a bit different. When it comes down to fit/not fit It all depends on the tire make and the rated section width. Some tires are known to run wider and narrower. Like the Star Specs are known to run wider, where as I think I remember seeing 285 Sumitomos being as wide as a 265 of another brand.
    Go before show.

Alright, I was a little hesitant to post but I'm not finding any answers that completely satisfy me. My setup (hopefully) will be 18x8 +45 with 225/40 tires. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that the 1st gen sedans have a bit more rear fender room than 1st get hatches. Can anyone confirm this? I'm currently on pro-kits and stock struts, and for my rust warranty, I am not willing to roll my fenders. Will I have issues?

I thought that hatches had more room in the rear fenders than the sedans for 1st gens. Its the front fenders which have the least room for both though.

    Wait a second...

Kap's running 225 on 7.5" rim - walls are flush flat

Thanu will run a thinner tire at 215 which(according to Kaps formula) is going to be 8.46" wide (???)

By that theory - Thanus tires will poke .75" past the rim on both sides

    Shouldn't Thanu's 215 show (if anything) a stretch rather than a poke?

I know all about tire measurements and shit, but Kappa, that info threw me off LOL

    But back to Thanu's question.
How are your dampers? I would rub with 225-40-18's on Prokits at full lock because my front struts were going. 215's would've been good. But if you're saying Skink2's have a lower drop, then you may still rub at full lock

Tough call here, higher side profile but narrower, or lower profile but wider. Thanu you posted one of the wheels on the car, did you drive with it?
