Cell phone ban...some people don't care about it.

I thought the cell phone ban was supposed to stop drivers from talking on their phones while driving..well it seems that this law hasn't made a difference on our roads. When i'm driving to school i see 1 in 10 people in a group on 40 cars talking on their cell phones...wtf? Are people not supposed to be paying attention to the road? I've been avoiding a lot of accidents due to people chatting and straddling lanes when there is a car beside them..a little toot of the horn and they rush back over...like cmon is the call that important..it really irritates me when i see this.

This morning i'm going to tim hortons to get something and i'm driving up the road. There is a plaza on the right side and a truck is about to pull out. It looks obvious that the truck is going to wait for me to pass so that the intersection is clear...WRONG! The assclown pulls out in front me while im 10ft away and i pretty much slammed on the brakes coming to a screeching halt. I look at the driver and he's struggling to keep a cell phone stuck to his ears. Even though I blared the Hellas he didn't look like he cared even if i ended up underneath the box of the truck.

This just goes to show how much of a problem talking on a cell phone really is.

How is talking hands free different? They should have banned all uses period. When you're on the phone, whether you are physically holding a phone or have a thing on your ear or even coming out in full surround sound through your stereo, your mind is somewhere else.....

I know exactly what you are talking about. I make it VERY apparent when I see those ppl. If they dont do anything dumb I usually don't do anything, but if they cut me off or something I put down my window and flip them the bird HARDCORE like shake it in the air at them... lol I rage man hahaha

I have seen more people pulling off the road to take a call. Something that didn't happen before. But yea, I often follow some women home and when I pass then wondering why they're so slow, they're being chitty chatty on their phone.

I was once on the 401 heading eastbound and was wondering why this guy was running steady at 70 kph. As soon I broke free from the line, I saw the guy holding his phone while laughing heartily. As I passed by, he looked my way and I gestured to him about the phone and pointed at the line behind him. He just looked the other way and ignored me.

Then we had better ban drivers from conversing with passengers in their vehicle while driving. It's the exact same thing (when you are hands free).
The point is that you may be in a conversation, but at least you don't have a hand and a phone glued to your ear. Now you have both hands on the wheel and can more easily move your head / see.

I avoid talking on the phone while driving--the only time I did for an extended period of time was due to a family emergency. Excluding that time, I only check my phone at a light.
