Water Cooling Kit for a Computer

So I got a new machine and want to install a proper water cooling kit for it. Right now I got a Corsair 800D case and am Planning to run a 3 fan Rad across the top then down to all my components (CPU, Video Card, Motherboard, HDD, RAM) However I will start slow only with the CPU and Videocard and slowly add on to save on initial costs.

Right now i'm looking for any tips, recommendations, which company to buy where to buy from etc

In cooling performance, yes. You'll have to do overclocking for yourself to get an actual speed increase. The added cooling of the cpu/gpu allows you to overclock them higher and stay within temperature specifications. Generally about ~80c stable at 100% load.

Most sealed kits these days are generally decent, but I eventually want a custom set up, too. I have my 2500k at 5.0 ghz on a corsair H100 cooler. 8 hrs of prime95 it is stable at 73-76 between all cores.

As stated already the cooling allows you to overclock higher and more efficiently.

That being said you will also want to consider increasing the quality of your power supply... this will mean more stable voltage when you crank up the ram/cpu

jeeze how old is that pic, ISA slots, LAN card, and a teeny heatsink.

back on topic, i want to do the water cooling because my room is really hot, End house with the room as wide as the house and the sun on it from Noon to sunset all day everyday makes it very hot. That and the noise, i have right now 8 fans running on it (not including the 3 on the GPU). Right now I'm messing around with the fans trying different configurations based on what i see online, but the problem is that i have a H70 on the CPU so it's a little hard to maneuver it because of the tubes

Well to start off the 800D isn't meant for all air cooling lol.
If you plan on upgrading an old card I also have a 6970 with a water block.

I know but the cost of $500 for the case, I7 930, H70 Watercooler, 6GB ram, and Asus Rampage III was too good to pass up. I picked up a 7870, i picked up a bunch of stuff from CC in the past month that were either crappy (5.25 HD hot swap bay), Bad (mmo7 mouse as messing up in games), or not needed (router) and used that to buy it on a price match from NCIX ($280)

The CPU has it's own board to attach to the motherboard and SCSI cables. Seriously how old are you?

LOL none of these computers are mine....just bringing up pictures this thread reminds me of. i guess this was before water cooling computer was like witch craft. my pc's isnt new and extreme. i have no need for a setup like that....i however do own 2 macbooks and 1 pc... dont ask why...

Don't forget... If your ambient room temperature is already near what your air cooling is achieving then water cooling won't really make a difference.... Look at some numbers. You'll only see one or two degrees difference compared with air cooling.

lol get an oil cooler and hook it up to a fan. thats wat im doing my transmission soon. running fluid over and over again might actually heat up the computer by a bit cause your not removing the heat from the fluid.

I know but when the computer is adding to the temperature it doesn't help

It does make a difference unless your room is 40c.
On load, air cooled temps are usually 70-90 or even more
On load with a proper loop it's never more than 60 for decent setups.

For a CPU not on load it's ambient at 30-50c air cooled
For watercool it's usually never more than 20.

Adding more components decrease the temps:
Extra loop
Extra pump
Extra rad


I might add that te quality of a fan doesn't make a big difference in temps but ad all those fans together per rad space on push pull and you'll have some great results.
I usually opt for noctua fans but I had a sick deal of the led fans and it makes my tubes glow lol
And if I need more cooling done I crank my TFC fans to the max to create the noise of a jet fan.

If you think it's only a couple degrees apart, you're having a problem with your loop.

I stick to Scythe Fans, they are well prices and can pump a ton of air without too much noise at least that bothers me too much. if they can get the job done i can live with it for the next few months until i'm ready to water cool.
