Default Average life of OEM brake pads

I heard squealing from my brakes today. It's only if impress the brakes hard... Say over half way of the pedal or more. Just curious, I have around 38,000km on the car and pads. Does this seem too early? I don't drive aggressively only once in a while and drive around 70% highway.

    Thanks for your input.

I'm ove 100k with the stock pads. I doubt they are worn right down. Maybe there is a clip loose or some rust on the rotors. You would have to pull the wheel off to see what the problem might be.

Close to 150,000km on OEM stock pads before swapping them out this year. They still had 30% left according to Jimmy and were still good for another 6 months.

The rear OEM lasted less than 40,000km, fronts lasted 150,000km. Replaced the rears with Hawk HPS and they lasted 100,000km.

The screeching only happens after some hard or long braking, like on the highway. I can't hearing during normal diving but only when I am driving in my underground garage. I guess I will have a tech check it when I go for my next oil change which should be soon.

I brought mine to the dealership at 35,000km because I heard a clicking and slight squealing when I applied the brakes. The dealership found the problem and fixed it under warranty.

Before that I bought some front and rear Hawk pads and asked Jimmy to install them at around 30,000 km. He said the pads were fine and he recommended that I leave the OEM pads on. Honest of him. I will take the car back to him when I need to install the Hawks.

The technician took it for a drive, found the problem and fixed it by removing the front brake rotors to machine and lubricated the front caliper slide rails and pad holders. Dealer was Avante btw.

Have your brakes ever been serviced? ie. the 24K (annual serivice)?

Impossible to give a time frame, each person drives their vehicle in a different manner. I've seen guys burn through a set of OEM pads in 10k and others that put on 80k+, if you drive conservatively than expect longer lasting pads.

I'm at 61K on my OEM pads and they still have over 50% life according to the dealer so it completely depends on driving style.

Clean/lube slider pins. That's pretty much it. Check all corners for unusual wear.

    +1

Still on original brakes no issues just over 62,000 km. Never been serviced. Will upgrade to better pads and cross drilled rotors later.
