    Default Recommend Body Work shop

I need recommendations for body shops that wont rip me off and can help find an affordable solution to fix this issue (which is coming out of my pocket, for my carelessness, no insurance involved!). So far I have received quotes up to $25000 $2,500!!! They are at Gyro Mazda and Toronto Mazda.

The bottom portion of my doors near the rocker panel, and the rocker panel itself are dented as they were struck against a curb/rock causing it to bulge inwards.

I dont have pictures, but here is what the damage looks like:

I was thinking about just repairing it myself, as I have fixed the paint already and rust proofed it till I get a permanent fix. And losing my car for a week will be another expense. HElp and Advice please!!!

As long as the door is ok, the rockers are going to be a bitch to pull out, buy some sport GT side skirts and just cover it up?

Quote for $25,000????? Might as well buy a new car!

As some people have mentioned, contact Richard at Street Performance. Honest quotes plus great prices and quality of work from personal experience. Also referred several non TM3 members to them.

I've had damage similar to this on a previous car. Basically a friend of mine drove the car over a curb and crushed the rocker panel and side skirt in.

If they can't pull it out they will have to cut out and weld in a new rocker panel + paint, etc. The repair should be anywhere from $1200-$4500 for the repair. Gyro Mazda for a HUGE fail!

I had worse damage than that on a Honda Accord I owned, the body shop I used just drilled several 3/4" holes in the rocker under the scuff plates and pushed the dented rocker back into shape. He did such an excellent job all it took was a light skim of filler and then paint.

Having been to both SP and Linwood Motors (MOT's body shop fyi), i would recommend the latter for major work and the former for smaller items.

    Good luck.

Thank you Sube for your response. I bought a stud welder for $150. I and a technician friend of mine are going to try to pull out the dents in the rocker panel. The exact same thing happened to my Mazda3, my friend hit a curb.

When they drilled holes in your rocker panel, did the pull out using a slide hammer? or some special equipment?

Did you get any quotes on the repair?

The quote I got were $2500. Not $25,000 (I dont know how to edit the post! sorry).

I will call Street Performance this Saturday before I try to fix it on my own. I wish I knew where to get the Mazda paint spray. I have the shitty touch up pen, but need the actualy 16W spray black.

Again, we hit the car on the curb too... so it squished it.. It seems it will be quite difficult to pull out (i will try nonetheless).

Carquest can mix the actual paint in a spray for you, just give them the 16W colour code

He massaged the dent out using tools similar to what the dent guys use, he worked them in through the 3/4" holes he drilled and just worked the dent out. He didn't have to use a slide hammer or anything else that I recall. The guy was a genius, he also was the best paint match guy in the business. Other body shops brought their paint match problems to him. The cost to repair my car at the time was around 400 bucks, this was a few years ago. Even at the time the price was more than reasonable.
Unfortunately he packed the business in due to breathing problems.

you can try using a spot gun with a slide hammer, it does take a bit of work but it will come out.
