Default Scion FR-S' twin - Subaru BRZ?

Could this be what it looks like or is it still a concept? Either way, I think it looks awesome!!!

    Source:

The Subaru version of Toyota’s FT-86 sports car has been overshadowed for its entire pre-existence with the big T showing sexy concepts at international auto shows while Subie was left with displaying significantly less-sexy bits like the chassis and engine. That, however, will change at the LA Auto Show, where Subaru is tipped to reveal its rear-drive sports car, the BRZ, in all of its glorious sheetmetal.

But wait, no….. it won’t be the production car, just a concept. And if the reports prove to be accurate it will be an over-the-top STI-inspired model (looking much wilder than our near-production artist’s rendering).

As for the production car, we expect it to finally see the light of day, along with its Toyota sibling, at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show.

Like it’s Scion FR-S sibling, the BRZ is expected to hit production with a direct-injection boxer 4-cylinder making around 200-hp.

Look for more into in the run-up to the 2011 LA Auto Show, which takes place November 16-17.

And just in case you're wondering what BRZ means, it stands for Boxer engine, Rear wheel drive & Zenith

Really? Well, you can always just change the badge like what Acura Integra & TSX owners do. Change the Acura to a Honda badge.

    I can see it now......

After all the hype, 18 million auto show varients of the FR-S, the lame sauce 'see through' BRZ........the only version worth buying will be the $40,000+ Subaru......

    I do hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, all the hype and I really hope they don't disappoint when it's officially available, especially with the pricing.

Also, from the spy shots that I've seen of the new Genesis, I'm not feeling it. Sometimes it not all about HP but an overall balance and the "fun" factor.

Scion FR-S actually looks quite nice. I like the rear wheel drive aspect of it a lot and it'll definitely be a tough choice when I have to decide between getting a speed3 or one of those...

Unfortunately that doesn't hold much weight anymore. The gap among manufacturers aren't what they use to be.

    - I will definitely buy this car if it makes production as is - for $40G's.

    - Subaru over Hyundai any day of the week.

    - A little history lesson for you youngens. 10-15 years ago, Toyota REALLY wanted to jump on the Tuner scene. Back then, it was a 5-billion dollar a year industry just on aftermarket rice-a-roni parts. However, with all the negativity the tuner scene was causing, Toyota did not want to be known as "tuner friendly" or supporting "street racing". (Honda was all over the concept - and look what happened to their name. Most people will not buy a Civic nowadays) so they created a sister manufacturer "Scion" so they can kill it off in case it the tuner scene drops off.

The original concept was fantastic for tuners. The idea that young adults can walk into a dealership, pick a car, pick a colour, pick the rims they want, the ground effects package they want, pick interior color accents, etc. all for one sticker price. (unlike everyone else where everything was optional and cost more money to add) All the "Tuner" accessories were designed or hand picked by RJ de Vera (old school tuner out of SoCal).

Unfortunately, by the time Scion reached Canadian markets, the whole "pay-one-price" idea went out the window.

Subaru has finally shown their concept version. BRZ STi Concept.
I think I like the rear of this car compared to the Scion. Not sure about the front right now though.
