don't think they can change the car exterior too much in that short time frame, but I can see them improving interior/adding additional equipment at no cost (at least comparable to other cars in the segment)
Coming from someone who owned the 2007 Civic, I can say, driving the 2012+ model is such a downgrade... in so many ways... handling, steering, interior build quality, suspension, exterior looks, and overall wind noise...
they really dropped the ball... lets hope they pick it right up for the sake of competition. Honda still has great reving engines and transmissions, and better than many of the other competitors powertrains. Refined.
itll still be n/a with no power costing as much as turbo competitors
Thing is their "new" Si models doesn't have the 9k rpm anymore which really takes away from the character of the car.
Oh well if they don't someone else will fill the market if there's demand.
lol, dont you mean re-re-re-re-re-refreshed.

Their sales must really be hurting for them to do this........Honda is not one to admit changes coming so quickly. ie Crosstour, Pilot, Acura lineup
I know they are pretty good cars, but their recent styling is very unappealing to me.
They really pulled an old GM/Ford move on this year's car, so much so that all their ads now have to swing on the tag line 'It's a Honda!'. Perhaps losing Consumer Report's recommended status finally opened their eyes.
I'm actually surprised the same moves with the new Jetta have it actually selling pretty well.
honestly, i think they should go back to the original look and start from there. i liked the old civics, no not the riced up ones.
Honda will be at the bottom of he list until they boost the damn si..
They need an si T. Lol... they gotta catch up with everyone else.. Almost all the other companies r boosted for the same price as si..
$30 000=. Speed3 (super fast and sexy). I'm not biased I swear
Or
Si ( 200 hp of crap)
I lOve hondas but they are losing the battle right now IMO.

I totally agree with posts above re: the 2012 Civic's poor interior quality...Honda should be embarrased. That radio will haunt my dreams forever. Not to mention the kinda beige, kinda grey interior colour!
I admit the K series engine has loads of potential but... thats where things end. Everything else Honda has done up to this point after the 2000 SIR is absolute garbage.
I'm really into taillights for some reason (psychological?)
The 2010 series Civic coupe had damn nice ones. The sedans, not so much. For 2012, the taillights look like a step backwards IMO
I don't mind the exterior on the 2012, it's not great but it's not terrible. If they can fix the interior in the least they can get some people (not car people) buying them. But if you're Honda and you bring out a new Civic that is noticeably inferior to the AMERICAN comparables (Focus, Cruze) then you've got a big problem.
P.S. What they really need is a hatchback type-R even if it's a Fit.
Yep, it would be really nice if Honda made a Type-R Civic, perhaps a 3-door hatchback/coupe reminiscent of the old EG and EK platform Civics...
... Oh wait, they do.
Honda just hates North Americans and wants to give away their market share here. -_-

We were talking US market here, everyone knows about the UK Type-R. But seeing as Honda doesn't even sell the Civic in Japan any more who knows how long that will last. I have the distinct feeling that Honda wants to be the next Toyota and drop all the interesting cars in favour of boring cars for people who would rather not be driving.
Who knows, maybe the Scion FR-S will be a blast and Honda will release a new type-R for us and make a CR-Z that isn't a hybrid. But that's all pretty unlikely.
