    Default Rim Repair...

    So money is tight.
I had a bulge in one of my winter tires with about 70% tread left. Rather than replace all tires or buy one new one and have uneven tires, I bought a used one, with the exact same amount of tread left.

Total cost, 67 dollars, balanced and mounted, but not put on my car.

While he was balancing it, the guy was really nice - once it spun up, he spotted that my rim was "no good" I asked him a few questions, he said it would be safe to drive, but I'd feel it at highway speeds.

    Boourns.

My question is: How much to straighten an alloy rim? its a 15 inch from a 2007 GS.

He said it was Safe to drive... but vibration/wobbling = worn out suspension parts and annoying drive, which will cost more in the long run.

These stuff normally starts at around $170 and above.. I got a quote from Curbed and Speedstar regarding repairing a crack and a bend on one of my rims and it's within $200 all in. I say give em a call, so they can assist you better.

You'll probably get mixed responses on here, but I almost bought a "slightly bent" rim a while back myself and made sure to ask my dad about it first. He has been a licensed mechanic for 40+ years, so I trusted him when he told me the rim would never be the same and not to bother.

Not worth the money to get it fixed, just buy a new one... someone is selling 17's for $80/rim here, I'm sure you could find a 15" one for way cheaper.

    Best of luck!

yea in my experience fixing rims is a waste of money....they usually screw the finish fixing it, then you need to powdercoat afterwards. I bought a set of cheap rims ( 1 had a dent) with the intention of repairing them....did the math, and after all was said and done it was only slightly more expensive going to simply tire and buying exactly what I wanted, brand new.

Damn. No crack... just a bit of a dent. In fact its hard to notice unless the rim is spinning.
I was almost wondering if I could help it out using a press and some 2X4's at my dads place.

you could potentially crack the rim that way

call a few auto wreckers and see if you can find one rim
Otherwise, search the BST forums or kijiji for another set of 15's (that way - you can still use your tires)

Widely available rim don't bother. Rare wheel get it fixed.

I bent one of my Equips (yes 'real' wheels bend) and my only option is getting it fixed as they are NLA.
