Default 2007 Mazda 3 GT - Low Fuel Economy

    Hi,

    I recently just bought a 07' Mazda 3 GT.
I have filled the tank once and I only got 345KM (about 100km were highway bringing the car home and the rest city)
It's got winter tires and is the 2.3L engine.
    Is this normal? :|
Any suggestions on what I should do?

    Thanks

We need more details. How many kms do you have on the car? What maintenance have you done up to this point? etc...

wow. Got a 2006 Mazda 3 GT hatch and getting around 600-700km per tank.

Little more details on your setup like oil replacement, spark plugs, transmission, tire pressure, extra weight, driving style and so forth.

    Hi All,

I would like to mention... "recently" meaning last Wednesday, December 07, 2011.
No work has been done on the car from my side yet (oil change etc).
Oil Change was done is what the dealer said before we picked up the car. Oil look clean.
I am going to be taking a look at the spark plugs and air filter tomorrow.
As for driving style, I'm not driving fast at all.
This is my first manual car
Changing gears at normal rpm I think (around 3200?)
    Car has 97,000km approx.

As for calculating mileage, I just set a new trip the first time I filled up the car.
When I had to fuel up, it was reading 345KM.

    Thanks again to everyone!

Also, I checked the tires the day I brought the car home and also this morning.
They stayed the same at 32psi.

Check are the spark plugs then.

There are some chances that spark plugs does go fowl and hinder the fuel econ. Also the air filter does a lot.
Since you are checking the car, go take a look to the cabin air filter.
Here is the video of this SOB air filter located.

I'll tell you, when spark plugs turn into birds it really hampers the ignition process.

lol yeah. I notice it after I submitted that post. Was about to fix it, but forgot that I do not have the proper privilege to redo my post.

You gotta watch out those birds. Those guys can be sneaky. Not as sneaky as spiders and spider eggs.

Well you got halfway there... when you filled it up at 345km on your trip. How much fuel did you put into the tank? 3200 shifting is a bit high.

    Hi All,

    Sorry for the late reply.
I've been busy with finals -.-
Anyhow, i put about 45L (approx) when I fill up the tank. Comes to about $53.
I started shifting around 2800-3000 now.
Air filter and spark plugs were fine btw.
Not sure what to do anymore...kinda pissed cause i was told i'd get minimum 500km's per tank.
Would taking the car to Mazda help in any way??

    Thanks again to everyone!
