Default Cold Air Intake cause CEL

I was driving my 2007 Hatchback 2.3L yesterday in the rain, and I stepped on it to pass someone on the highway, and the engine light came on, so I cleared it, and it came back again this morning. It turned out to be OBDII code P0103 which is "Mass or Volume Circuit High Input". Would having an intake on there make it do it? It just seems to be in the rain. I was driving today after the rain went away, and the light has stayed off for about 150 k today.

Any ideas? other people having this problem with a cold air intake in the rain?

Oh. I never thought of water in the piping. I figured it was an air leak or something along those lines. Thanks for info.

its obvious? then why didnt you tell him to clean his MAF, not just the piping, LOL

get MAF/intake system cleaner, and clean your MAF.

Is your MAF wiring unclipped from the battery box?

Start by checking the MAF wiring.

I doubt it's from water, you wouldn't get that kind of code.

it could very well be, as the code Mass or Volume Circuit High Input- P0103 applies to more than just "u got water in ur piping"

when you clean your maf, make sure it goes back on nice and snug, but dont tighten it too much or you WILL break the plastic on the MAF itself.

as others have said check the MAF, it could be dirty or on its way out, however if the MAF is ok, wiring is ok, there is no.. water in the pipes, clear the light and keep an eye, if the light returns install the stock air box and clear the light again. we have had a few vehicles with intakes come in with this code, we had replaced the intake with the stock air box and the light had not returned.

Check for MAF sensor, the wiring for it and for any potential leaks in the intake. If you got water in your intake to the point of it causing problems, your engine would be hydro-locked rather than a simple CEL coming on.

sort of true, i had sucked up water in my focus and thought for sure it was done as it stalled the engine, it rolled into a parking lot i turned it over for 30 sec floored the gas and saw nothing but white smoke out the exhaust.. lol it ran with out issue after that.. well until 204 000 km and i sold it cuz something else went wrong. or i got rly rly lucky then but i wouldnt advise sucking water into your engine.

I did unclip the wiring from the battery box, it wouldn't reach other wise, and it's been ok all day today the sensor wasn't fully tight yesterday. Tightened it up and the light came back up this morning. Cleared and it hasn't come back.
