    Default doughboyr6's 2013 CX-5 GT

I never did this with my old car. This time around I want to keep a journal of my car. At least this way, I will have everything logged when it comes to me selling or trading in my car down the road.

    Bought/Picked-up March 24th 2012

These pics below are from the day after.

I have promised myself that I have learned my lesson from my previous car and that I would not spend stupid amounts of $ on it. This is my daily driver and I need it to last. So; I've limited myself to the following as approved mods:

    • yellow fogs or lamin-x - ORDERED, Waiting from seche media.
    • change bulbs for DRL/headlights (maybe HID, but not likely, don't want to mess with electronics this time). - Just installed Narva Contrast + bulbs for DRL/Highbeams. Still deciding on lowbeam headlights. I may wait on that till fall.
    • rallyarmour flaps - still researching.
    • painted calipers - will wait a little bit. bought the caliper decals though.
    • weathertech floor liners - will wait till I go to the US to get.
    • wheels. i really want black or charcoal wheels. maybe powdercoat existing or drop down to 18s and get something else. - I've decided I like the stockers. So I will either plasti-dip or powdercoat. Or leave as is which is what my g/f is going to make me do. We will see who wins. History is in her favour.

my first mod to the 5.

i was originally planning on selling this heel guard along with the pedals from the 3. however, only 3 weeks in, and the carpet is already starting to show wear from the heel of my foot and i didn't want my carpet getting any more worn.

i decided to put this in. from their website, this part looks to be pretty universal and i don't think comes in any other sizes anyway. so i decided to give it a go and it pretty much fit perfectly.

it goes very well with all the other silver trim in the car. autovation doesnt make pedals for this car (yet), but if they do, i'm gonna get them to finish off this interior...

i'm gonna check if by chance the pedals on the cx-7 and cx-5 are the same. autovation already has a set of pedals for the cx-7.

further they have a great deal for test fitters, so i might give that a go too if i get around to measuring...etc.

Nice car, I've always liked the CX-5 and maybe move to the SUV market later on.

my 2nd mod went in this morning on my driveway. I'm usually very shy about electronics/electrical; but I figure if I mess up changing bulbs over, I'm a real tool, so I gave it a go. One side was super easy and accessible. The other side was so hard as there was so much other misc items in the way.

Installed 9005 DRL/Highbeam bulbs. They are Narva Contrast +. Narva has a good reputation for quality bulbs. I did read on other forums they were disappointed with the yellow output and after my pictures I can see why. But I'm kind of ok with it. It looks stockish that I won't get in trouble with the police, but I'm sure if I was to use them at night or in inclement weather, they appear a lot more yellow than stock. Or at least I hope. I'm going to take some night pictures tonight and see. Unfortunately I do not have stock night pictures to compare....hmm..

Ok, so I've taken some night shots. The pictures do not depict what you see in person but I thought I'd share anyway.

It's not yellow like the Nokya bulbs we have all come to know and agree is a deep shade of yellow. These are much more pale and hardly yellow in comparison. But in person, they are a lot more yellow than the stock bulbs, especially when you are at eye level.

The bulbs have a very neat iridescent coating on it where you can see traces of blue/purple and you will see that in the pictures towards the end. I think the light emitted is close to the stock high-beams, but from the outside and on-coming traffic, it looks more yellow.

I can't justify the cost of upgrading to 20's and pay for the cost of 20" tires. It's an SUV after all, wheel gap is to be expected.

I know lowering springs are already out for this car. But i don't understand why one would do it. The point of SUV is to have ground clearance. Maybe I'm missing the point. I would like to see one lowered though.

LOL your right, purpose of SUV's are suppose to have its height. But a little drop would make it look nice, unless this isn't a vehicle that your planning to mod at all. Just a thought

added 3 stickers a few weeks ago, but never took pics of it.

#58 is to commemorate an awesome motorcycle rider who passed too young.

the 'like' sign appears to be off, i might have to take it off and buy another and do it again. maybe i'll have it next to the skyactive logo instead. where i currently have it, seems weird.
