Door doesn't lock

Recently, the driver's side door on my 3 doesn't lock when you press the lock button on the key fob (i.e., the lock mechanism doesn't flip the switch to the locked position when the button is pressed, but you can still do this manually). I got the dealership to take a look at this and they told me that the actuator is broken and it would cost $200+ to fix. This problem is annoying (I have to manually lock the door every time I get out of the car now), but it's not $200+ annoying.

Does anyone know a cheaper solution to get this fixed?

The car is a 2004 so it's wayyyy out of warranty.

Go to the wreckers, you might get lucky and find the part used for cheap.

lol i had mine quit on me cause it got seized .... my dad took it straight to the dealer wen i didnt kno and got it fixed for about 450.... seriously, just buy the part and take it to jimmy's

Or maybe try RockAuto.com they probably have the lowest prices for parts. You *might* be able to get it from them.

Actuators are actually very easy to put in.. my mazda mx-3 anyways..
You could at least take a look. Buy the part from mazda and install it yourself. It's usually just a few screws.

seized and couldnt lock AT ALL lol. not even manually... wanted to jst buy the part but my dad beat me to it...costed way too much in my opinion.. had to tie my door hanle to the steering wheel then lock it...
