Question. Does the middle area where it shows what function still work?

No. And if you unplug your battery or your cars dies. You loose the time to. ( until you fix it. )

So when removing stock deck, do not unplug the LCD screen? What about functions of LCD, I thought you without the factory deck you loose LCD functions because the control buttons are on the factory deck? Example I have an 09 GT sedan with a metra dash-kit and JVC deck, but now my LCD screen only shows the outside temperture that's it? Basically after reading your post I feel I must now remove my deck re-plug back in my factory deck, make sure the time is set, then reinstall my aftermarket deck all without letting the LCD screen be unplugged. Does this all sound about right? Thank you in advance.

Yep that's it in a nutshell, sucks but it is what it is.

Or you could just have the wrong time for 6 months and the right time for 6 months.

Thank's brah!!! After looking at the pic of your LCD screen still showing time/temp/fan position (and fuel remaining??) I am so motivated to re-do my setup. When I originally installed my aftermarket deck and metra kit I just believed that you loose all of the display of your LCD except the temp?? The main functions I really wanted to keep are the time and fuel remaining to empty. Also your description of installing the metra kit was spot on!!! Because as I've stated I as well have the metra dash kit and it does allow you to attach the LCD screen to the metra bracket/kit. I would like to post a pic of my setup but I cannot figure out how to post a pic? (I do realise how lame that sounds but its true lol)

I just wanted to say thanks again for the tip on the LCD screen! I just got the new Kenwood DNX690HD and when I installed it, I kept the LCD screen pluged in and now I have the fuel consumption (1/100kms) showing on the left side, and the outside temp on the right. I am very pleased with this result.

The older models have only 1 plug or harness, you wont be able to use display unless you have individual plugs

No he's not saying that..... Start at the beginning of this thread and you know what everyone is talking about.

sorry to bring an old thread up. but i'm having troubles fitting the metra lcd retention brackets. first, the bolt and nut supplied doesn't seem to fit? second, the bracket itself doesn't seem to fit into the sub dash? the diameter of the protruding bits on the bracket itself seems to be too large to fit into the sub dash holes?
