    Default Rattling at rear window

Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with rattling at the rear window were the plastic is? mine started about a month ago and it's driving me nuts. I was thinking of taking it apart to put some dymate to hopefully stop it from rattling unless someone else has a better solution.

The rattle is coming from these plastic pieces

I have an identical random noise in the back window - i haven't been able to determine what's causing it...

I'll probably have to end up tearing out the whole back window portion to find a loose clip or seat-belt ....

Good luck - hopefully someone will post something more constructive, other than "yeah i'm experiencing this too."

If you take yours apart first - would surely appreciate any pics. The only thing I'd be afraid of is finding nothing out of place...... Pack it all with newspaper/dynamat.

I encountered the same problem when I installed my stereo, the plastic cowl thing rattling/vibrating whenever I get a particularly deep base hit.

I haven't done this yet, so I cannot comment on the efficacy, but someone on the forum here, or on OMC, suggested that I take the cowl off and line the edges with weather stripping from Home Depot.

It should, in theory, stop the plastic from rattling against the window / other plastic trim.

Are your OEM jack and tire iron properly secured? What about the bolts and plate for your spare tire? Any of those could be loose and jiggling around producing a rattling noise.
Got a variety of OEM Mazda 3 parts that need to go, thread coming soon, PM me for details!

good point, could be noise from other items unless there is someone back there that can hear it from that side / location. make sure theres nothing in the car or under seats making noise or making noise in the trunk as well.

I almost forgot, definitely check out the white plastic cover on the light in the trunk. That damn thing was causing about 70% of the rattle noise I was hearing from my trunk.

It my be the trunk hinges.... Spray some lube on the hinges and it should solve the problem.

I dont know if you drive a sedan or hatch. But i was having some rattling and deduced that it was coming from my spoiler mounting bolt. I drive a hatch.

Ya, but my spoiler had noticeable movement when I shook it. It might not hurt to check and see if they're tight though.

Just tightened down the mounting bolt for the spoiler. If you open the hatch, on the top left and right of the door you'll see two black plugs. Just take those off and the nut is right underneath them. You'll need a ratchet extension to reach them.

I have a hatch, and fixed my rattling problem a long time ago by opening trunk and stuffing some foam under the cover that meets up with the back window. Rattling wasn't bad until I installed my rear motor mount.

Noticed it happens for the first while while the car is cold, then when she warms up it disappears. Also comes from front window too sounds like cracking??

My spoiler rattles with my subs, but i just tightened it down.

Now there's a constant rattle when i'm driving coming from up front, any ideas? I've already cleaned out my glovebox and tightened everything in my dash.

Front rattling has been linked to the cowl below the wipers. Happens often when it's cold. There is a TSB for this for the gen 1s not sure about gen 2s.
