Default Mazda of Toronto Trannie flush

My wife took my 2005 Mazda to MoT in July to do a transmission flush (because she works nearby), before she took the car there I got quotes for the same service from Mazda Maple and Scarborough and the price was around $190 plus HST. So I thought the price at MoT would be the same. However it turned out that MoT charged $250 bucks, almost 20% more expensive that the other dealerships. I would totally avoid MoT and advise the same to my families and friends. Just my personal experience.

So you didn't get a quote from the place you were getting the work done prior to getting the work done?

Good question. The title says oil change and the thread is about a transmission flush. Did the OP get other services included with the flush?

Actually that was my fault, the title should be changed.

The OP posted this originally on an entirely different thread and was off topic. Done because of our anti soapbox mode which keeps single posters coming on the forum just to complain without ever coming back.

hilarious... he gets quotes from 2 other dealers, but not the one closest to him... instead he ASSumes the prices are the same.... it's like assuming prices for gas at the shell station is the same in scarborough as london's

$250 for a tranny flush!! Mazda of Brampton quoted me $69 dollars for a drain and fill and discouraged me from getting a flush due to possible contamination as a result of flush.

then why even mention it? most people here already know a drain & fill only gets half of it out... you incessantly saying that it only gets half of it out makes you sound like it's a big deal

just out of curiosity, how often should a full tranny flush be done on an automatic tranny?

Owners manual doesn't suggest anything but every 48,000-60,000km is a good change interval for most vehicles.

You don't ever have to actually flush it. If you do a drain and fill every 48,000km it will be just fine. I've done that many times now and the fluid is always nice and clean.

If you really want to flush it then maybe do it on the second service, drain and fill at 48,000km then full flush at 96,000km. That's what I would do, but really it's your call.

if you got the car second hand. you might want to check all your fluid just to see how far the fluids have been in the car. everyone has theyre own fluid change intervals. some people like to change them late, some early. transmission oil i coloured bright red. so take the dip stick and let a drop of fluid land on a piece of white paper. if its red, its still got some life. if its dark/browning, you should change it soon. colour isnt a good way of judging the life of fluid.

the only reason to even flush is if you decide to switch over to synthetic... you want everything 100% synthetic inside since the original fluid isn't synthetic
mine was done this way... and when it's time to change the fluid out quite a while from now, I'll just drain and fill with the same synthetic

If johnd ever comes back, remember each dealership is privately owned and therefore charge their own prices. Just like Canadian tire has carrying prices
