    Default Changing Licence Plate frame

I'm thinking about changing my licence plate frame. I know the general way to do is to remove the 2 bolts, put on the new frame and seal it back up. However, what if the screws provided by the new frame doesn't match the ones that came with your dealer? Are the screws standardized so I won't have to worry about drilling more holes?

You don't have to drill any new holes...

If I were you I would go to Canadian tire and buy 4 new screws (stainless Steel ones). The ones the dealer had on my car rusted after a year and it looked terrible.

If you go to Canadian tire and look where they sell licence plate covers etc you will see the screws

Yes, get stainless steel screws or you're going to have some nice poop dripping from the dealer screws.

All the North American plates are the same size, so the plate brackets you get pretty much anywhere will line up with your existing holes.

My licence plate frames arrived today. I've purchased Bell fasteners at Canadian tire specifically for licence plate frames. To my surprise, these screws didn't fit my car. It was slightly too thick and there was no way for me to screw it in. Any ideas on what to do? What's the specification of these screws?

Ok, I'll try again, but from what I can tell the tip of the screw isn't really going through. I'm worried that the threading process won't start properly to make it fit.

I went back to Canadian tire after realizing I've purchased nylon coated fasteners (not strong enough for self-tapping). I got stainless steel screws and got it working, thanks!
