Default ArmDrop Drag Racing - Saturday Sept 29th

This will be taking place this Saturday afternoon from 12 - 5pm at the historic Picton Airfield in Picton, Ontario. Coming from Toronto, take 401 East to the Marysville/ Hwy 49 Exit (same exit for Shannonville Motorsports Park) and head south into Picton (15 mins) . Look for the Airfield signs, ask someone, google map it or just come early...you'll find it.

Here's a map of Picton. Look south of the A and you'll see Church St...zoom out a bit and you'll see Airport Lane. There should be homemade signage on the roadways in town leading up to the venue.

    http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&sug...&ved=0CJ0BELYD

It's $25 for unlimited runs, $5 for spectators, there will be concessions, prizes, vendors and run-offs for fastest in different classes (including imports) etc.

This is the 2nd one of the summer. The first one in May went off great and they even had a jet powered dragster make a few passes to blow out everyone's eardrum's and make all the children cry. At the end of the day a bunch of vintage WW2 aircraft landed at the site. Not a bad afternoon for $20.

Everyone is super friendly and you can just line up or ask people to race. No timeslips, no lights, just old school armdrop drags down the runway. After you win or lose, you get to roll race the person again across the back runway before you come into the third runway which is all pits and parking.

Here's a couple vid's to give you an idea.

Hope to see ya there. Reply to this thread if you have any questions - be glad to help.

This beast was at Cayuga a few weeks back. The thing was insane to see/hear.

You were a girl??? What happened? Jk.

Really though. People making rude comments at a female driver. That's just sad. Hope you smoked at least a few of then.

Thats really sad people made comments...the gene pool seems a little shallow at these events. I saw you run but didn't know you were TM3 or I would've introduced myself. Seems like a girl was the only one with enough balls to show up! lol jk. Thanks for coming!

I will have to concede to Lockdown, organization wasn't their strongsuit as they didn't seem able to manage the larger than expected turnout. I waited about 20 minutes in line to get in...not horrible but not great.

Wow, when you mentioned ArmDrop before, I thought you were talking about the Rich Christensen thing.

I was involved with that, the same guys who do Pinks, had no idea about this. Sorry to hear that it was unorganized, it happens though when tne events receive a better than expected turn out.

Lol, no worries. I actually heard the same thing about Rich from Pinks. A guy I used to work with said he was a real prick to pretty much everyone the whole weekend.

You should come out to the next Armdrop next year. Probably in May sometime, (I'll post a thread) either at the Picton Airfield or SMP. No time slips, just grudge racing, lots of fun and everything from 16 sec Civic's to 800 whp Trailer Queens that run 10's. Bring your Mustang...sounds pretty badass.

Yeah, if they have a full 1320, then I will bring my car out. I don't like doing 1/8, there's launch and one shift and the way I'm geared, I have to shift into third about 25' from the line and it kills the times. I can finish 1/4 in third. To improve 1/8, I'd have to swap my rear gear. Plus it's over before it starts, when you run anything under 12 second quarters. I run low 10s and high 9s are just around the corner so any extra seat time, is good. Just need to do a few more safety mods before I break 9.99 or it's a wasted trip anywhere that does tech.

I was in the black one, my buddy had the white one...shoulda came over. Most people are super nice there..no attitude - nothing to prove, just looking to have fun racing. I beat a guy in a 350Z and he pulled up afterwards to say congrats as well.

Yeah, that was the busiest one I've ever been too...usually things move much quicker, especially in the later afternoon.

Should have come out to Shannonville on Sunday! All day mix & match, $35. Timers were working, too

I was there most of the day until ~3:30, although not in my 3. I was going to make it out to the Arm Drops but had other stuff keeping me busy, unfortunately.

There's a Test & Tune this Friday (last of the season), although I won't be there.
