    Question 07 Hatch repainting

    Hey guys,

Ive always loved the idea of welding the emblem holes shut and debadging the hatch. Love the look so much, but as a fairly broke college student an expensive and minimally aesthetic mod seemed a little wild considering my car is..er was, pretty stock at the time. Somewhat unfortunately some douche put quite the scratch across the back so now it pisses me off enough to deal with it and get it done.

So i'm looking for experience or rough cost estimates on cost , quality and the whole proccess and any reccomendations

    Cheers,

    Travis

I got a quote from Newmarket auto body to get my hatch repainted couple months ago. The price I was told was 670 after tax. That was to take the hatch off, remove the spoiler and the glass, then paint.

I paid $500 cash to debadge + repaint my trunk.
I have a sedan not a hatch, but thats your ballpark price, just to paint the trunk alone is probably going to run you around $300.
That being said, don't cheap out on the paint or you will have to deal with rust issues in the near future, which is worse than a dinky scratch.
    Get everything professionally done.

If anyone is contemplating painting a hatch, always insist on having the glass pulled. Reason being they cannot properly sand up to the glass. This is where the clear coat will start to peel.

Removing and reinstalling the glass should be around $150 alone.
Filling the holes, by sanding, welding and prep again, roughly 200-250
Painting the entire hatch should be around 400
So to properly debadge I would say 700
