TM3 Fantasy Basketball League

Hey guys,

With the NBA pre-season underway, and regular season starting the end of this month, it's time for me to get back into my annual fantasy league involvement. I was wondering if there was enough interest to do a TM3 league. I think it'd be fun!

So, here's a call-out to anyone that would be interested in joining a fantasy basketball league. If we can get enough interest, I'd be happy to setup and manage a league for us. Regardless of experience/skill, if interested, join up!

The specifics for the league are definitely open to suggestions, but based on past experience, I was thinking the following:
League would be done under Yahoo Fantasy Sports (No account? No worries! It's an easy process.)
Scoring Type: Rotisserie
Max Teams: 12
Min Teams: 6 (I've done as low as 6 before, and it wasn't as exciting as 8,10,12. The more the better!)
Draft: Live Standard Draft (To avoid missing out on week 1 of the league, we would have to have the draft before Tuesday October 30th. We can decide on specific day/time once interest has been generated.)
Roster Positions: PG, SG, G, SF, PF, F, C, C, Util, Util, BN, BN, BN
Players Stat Categories: Field Goal Percentage, Free Throw Percentage, 3-point Shots Made, Points Scored, Total Rebounds, Assists, Steals, Blocked Shots, Turnovers

Hoping to get some feedback soon (would ideally like everything setup in a couple weeks). Next steps would be me creating our private league, you guys joining, and then deciding on a draft day/time.

Alright, some updates:

- So far, 7 out of 9 people have signed up; including me.
- Disabled the Can't Cut List
- Since nobody seemed to protest against Ami's suggestion, the scoring has been changed to Head-To-Head
- Playoff Weeks: Weeks 22,23,24 (6 teams)

- Up for discussion: add either/all of the following to the stat categories - FG Made, FT Made, 3PT Made. As it currently stands, as far as these categories go, the percentages are included in the stat categories. I was debating adding the "made" stat too. Preferences?

I'd love to do a fantasy hockey league...but the lockout is making it difficult for me

Well personally, the NBA is pretty much the only sport I consistently follow lol

I do imagine the lockout would kinda make it a tad difficult doing a fantasy league for hockey

As far as the fee goes; yes this is completely free!

And the Raps are showing a little more promise this season compared to last (or maybe it's just me having false hope for my home team again, as I find I'm the only one that's still supporting them!) so we'll see just how crap they turn out to be.

I'm already doing an NFL one with my work but you're right I am surprised we don't have a TM3 one going. Either way I'm looking forward to our NBA league now...

Yahoo typically has their own app for each fantasy league type

They haven't updated the app yet for 2013...but I guess if it works I'll be using it.

Well, unfortunately the Masiv Monday meet is clashing with our draft time. At least 3 of the 9 people listed here are probably going to be going (I know Ami and myself will be there; from past meets I'm guessing trulankan will too). Not sure how you guys want to go about this. If we can grab a 10th person soon, maybe we can pre-pone the draft to a weeknight this week? Depending on the others attending the meet as well, I don't mind missing out on the live draft if the current date suits everyone.

As for draft day..
Bohizzle, the latest time a live draft is possible on a weekend (ie Sunday the 28th which you suggested) is something like 4pm or 5pm. I'm guessing most of us will be busy during the day on the weekend, so I figured a weeknight would be the best time. (Does your basketball game finish that late? You might miss the first few picks but can likely catch the rest of it.)
trulankan, doing the draft past the 29th causes us to miss Week 1 of the fantasy league, which I was trying to avoid if possible. (Maybe you could use this as a break from studying? )

Just a reminder for some of you that may be new to this:
You don't necessarily have to be present at the live draft (it's not like you won't be part of the league anymore or anything). It will automatically draft players for you according to Yahoo's algorithm, or if you prefer you can manually edit your picks so that it automatically drafts the players you select as part of your list, based on availability of course.
Just putting this out there since it might be hard to get a date/time when every one of us is free. Ideally would like to pick one where most if not all of us are free of course.
