    Question Rear Wiper Blade

Called up the dealer and asked how much for the rear hatch wiper blade and it's freaking $24.xx (before TM3 Discount) for the 14".
The guy say the hook is unique and cannot used any other brand....

So did you guys stick with the OEM or you find replacement somewhere.
    Thanks.

I went to mazda of toronto, got the tm3 dscount, and have a new factory blade. I like how it flows into the arm euro-style!

I didn't replace the whole arm down to the motor, just the blade portion that clips into the arm. You know, the plastic frame with rubber squeegee? Was around $20 after discount if I remember. MOT

Lockdown has silblade. I believe it's the 14D blade that fits the rear hatch. I think the blade is about $30 and change, but silblade lasts a couple months.

Seriously, just go to Canadian tire and get the generic replacement. It flows with the blade quite nicely and is dirt cheap. I'll even go take a picture of it if you're waffling.

i dont think that canadian tire has the blade the connects to the arm, if they do have that style its limited to the size they have.

Bought the rear wiper insert from FLIPDADDY just before he left MOT. With TM3 discount, it was $7.75 (before tax). Do you really need to replace the whole assembly?

any replacement thats not oem seems to leave a slight gap where it connects at the hinge. i may be wrong but i havnt found an aftermarket one to replace the whole blade.

Silverstar is right, here are a couple pics to show the gap he's talking about:

And this is what it looks like on the car:

Personally, for me and for the price, it's not worth the cost of the OEM replacement. YMMV!

I believe I bought this 3 years ago:
    http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/sh...ght=rear+wiper

Here is another thread with more detail:
    http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/sh...re+hatch+wiper

I think I bought the wiper and took just the rubber blade out as was suggested.
3 years and mine still works but sometimes it chatters on the window depending on how much water is on the window.

does that move back and forth when connected? or is a tight fit on the hinge less the gap after?

Nope, the blade is quite firmly attached. The hinge pivot is well out on the arm, right at the end. In the effort to make the blade generic, the hole on the blade has to be bigger and empty. Funny enough, the same replacement blade also fits my wife's Honda Fit! (works great on her car too)

Oh damn, that sucks. Oh well, I stopped reading the Speed section because according to certain people only speed owners are allowed to even look at that section.

no, there's is ZERO reason to replace the wiper blade assembly unless it is damaged in some way.... the wiper blade is plastic, no way for it to rust!
anyone who tells you that you need to replace the whole blade is out to fool you and anyone who has replaced the entire blade is a fool!

the rear wiper insert part number is BP4M-67-333A
front wipers inserts are available too... the factory 04-06 wiper blades are Bosch MicroEdge, but refillable unlike aftermarkets you buy at the store... factory 07-09 blades are Bosch Excel+... the inserts are relatively cheap too, but seeing as most people here (understandably) hate the stock Bosch wiper blades, no point for me to post those part numbers lol... might as well get those nifty Denso/NWB "Designer" hybrid blades... they work so much better and work perfectly without skipping/chattering on rainx glass

my 04 still has the original wiper blade and its breaking on one of the outer hinges. but when i called the dealer, i got the ridiculous price. but it still works so i didnt really care...so i just bought very generic canadian tire refills. they surprisingly keep working for a couple months before i have to change them again.... its not an expensive alternative but the blade is gonna break sooner or later.

    damn the specially designed blade!!!!!

You can buy the wiper blade refill, its just 12 dollars from most dealerships. Its just the rubber piece, you have to remove the old rubber from the blade and insert the new piece yourself.

Anyone know if the PIAA blade refills would fit the stock rear wiper?
