Norton is terrible. Huge resource hog.

I just use Microsoft Windows Security Essentials. Free and works well.

Not a fan of Norton either. My free version of spyware Doctor could pick up more stuff then it.

+1 for Microsoft security essentials as well

QFT. I have 360 and, while I am happy with it, it does use quite a bit of resources.

If I HAD to choose - BitDefender. ~~ Norton products have always been a resource hog... I never really liked the GUI...and they're not very good at picking up Malware.

AND It's all MALWARE. For the budget minded/myself - I typically recommend running Microsoft Security Essentials + Malware Bytes.

Both MSE and MBAM are either free or very inexpensive. Also very lightweight.

Most of the calls that come into our helpdesk are malware related. Malware Bytes does a good job of preventing/removing malware from your computer. It also does a great job of preventing access to malicious websites.
It also has a relatively broad definitions database that protects against trojans/keloggers/etc.

stop opening unsolicited email attachments, clicking on mystery links, downloading free screensavers, mouse trails, registry "optimizers", sketchy pirated games or applications and you wont require any of these things. They're offensive resource hogs and a resounding waste of money (except for the free ones, obviously).

If you insist on persisting, I'd go with AVG....as others have already mentioned, all of the Norton products are notoriously resource heavy
