you can't even just install that head unit... there are multiple wires, sensors, and GPS receiver units that's embedded behind the dashboard and under the centre console.... $1899 is just starters!

I gone through all this the 2013 head units with nav will not work with the 2010-2012 models, u can upgrade the card it's around 200$$ I think I got this from Andrew at budds Mazda. Your better off getting a after market unit that what km doing this summer, gonna get it done a lockdown by mark

yes, some newer mazdas can accept a GPS module upgrade because they're finally equipping head units with LCD screens... then it's just a simple matter of adding GPS functionality to it
the 3 is not one of them, yet

no it won't work unless you bought the GPS receiver module, antenna cables, wiring, and other crap associated with it

    short answer, NO
long answer, yes if you throw a ton of money at the car

in the end, it's still a mazda3 and it's still going to be worth the same

    just get a garmin gps!

I had a Goldwing with built in GPS from Garmin and it was a love hate relationship with it. While I did like some of the features of the GPS I really didn't like the fact that I was stuck in the middle between Honda and Garmin when it came to certain things. The price to update maps was outrageous and I was even more restricted on features and use as there was another party involved besides the GPS manufacturer now. I actually used two GPS's on my bike while I was driving...

That being said I decided against the OEM GPS on my Mazda and bought a top of the line Garmin with 5" screen now and absolutely love it! The only thing I don't like about it is the Bluetooth for data to the GPS interferes with the phone reception via the Bluetooth through the car. I have placed it on the hump on the gauges with a Garmin mount that is flexible and uses the sticky stuff and it stays put and looks pretty good IMO. The pic below shows the old GPS in the location that I use.

if you need a nice nav system why not get the QL-MZD216? I have it and it works great, i havent had any issues so far and it sells for around $350.
