    this thread made my day.

start slow, look at other rides, read and talk to others and learn as much as you can.

spend 10k+ or buy speed 3. done.

You'll spend way to much money in that process of modding your GT... easier and cheaper to buy a car with a turbo or an engine closer to 200hp.

    I'll try and be nice.

    1. 200 HP when stock is 167 is going to require a lot of work. It's a much better idea to just start with something with more HP. (Just like everyone else is saying.)

    2. Why do you WANT 200 HP? What else have you done with the car? The stock tires can't even lay down 200 HP in first gear. Start with tires and work you way up, depending on how much you have to spent.

    3. Horsepower increases isn't really as fun as you might think it is. I've driven cars with more HP, and I've driven cars with 2-digit HP. Less power can be more fun cuz you can spend more time full-throttle. I wouldn't want 200 HP in a FWD just because it's hard to lay it down neatly. (Personal opinion of course.)

    4. The best way to make the car go faster is to drive it better. (Don't know what your driving skills are like, but everyone can use improvement.)

Should of used the search engine.. this has been asked many times

Easiest way to get 200hp is to round up to the closest 100.. so next time someone asks "hey how much hp you got" you can reply "around 200" lol

Right but being the driver of a MS3 I must say more than 200 hp can be quite fun. In the why is my car steering itself sort of way LOL. Still for me torque steer is it not that different from breaking the rear lose on a powerful RWD car. Both still require you to do something about it to control it and both can be eliminated by not using the right foot so much.

    Very informative

OP: Not unless you want to spend large $$$, head porting, bigger valves, higher compression, more fuel, better flowong intake and exhaust..... doable yes..... feasible no!

a lot of people say this. the speed comes from the suspension and how you drive. driver mod is one of the first things you need to do if you want to become faster. and since you cant really squeeze out much power from the mazda 3, its best to work on the handling and braking.

Yeah, the real fun comes when you have 300whp

In any case, is it possible to get 200? Yes...should you bother? No

Oh and "laying down" 200hp is no problem. Ask some of the guys on here with 400hp MS3's what it's like to try to get the power to the road lol
