In your video, it appears you turned into the far right lane from your left hand turn.

Reading here you will see that you should have turned into the left hand lane, and then switched lanes, as the driver in front of you did, correctly.

you are correct I didn't notice that the first time...however even if he had have gone into the left lane and then signaled properly into the right...I feel like there was still enough time for this to happen.

m3rk didn't turn into the proper lane but regardless, the other person didn't change lanes correctly. Plus, m3rk was driving in the right lane for quite a bit before it happened. Hard to see if they even signaled from the video, but he/she clearly didn't even check mirrors/blind spot.

Yes, I should have gone into the left lane first and then signalled to the right which I normally do (but quickly). This time as I was turning left, I looked at the traffic and saw that the right lane was more open and adjusted my turn accordingly. If I did so correctly and with the same speed, the same thing would have happened.
