    Default Rear diffuser

    Hey guys

My buddy got a rear diffuser for his genisis coupe.

    Looks like this

I was wondering if something like this exists for our car? I have a Mazda 3 hatch 2007. With a mazda speed rear valence. I want something that goes under the exhaust like the one In the picture.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks guys!

You can check over a M3F, there's alot of prototype going on, but as far as I know, no ones sells a ''below exhaust'' diffuser .. Maybe, and hopefully, someday

Contact Celestspeed3 on here. IIRC he's in the process of potentially building some aero parts.

Nothing pre-exists for the Gen1 except for the 07-09 Speed 3 rear valence.

Some people have tried to make one but they look pretty ghetto. One person on M3F made a pretty decent one but that was a whole ago and only a one off.

Ultimately there are more threads about it but not too many "great" options.

Actually, that doesn't look too hard. I might give that a shot this summer.

Not hard you will need a nibbler, sheetmetal brake, alumium sheet, rivets and a rivet gun.

Diffusers can be for function, if properly manufactured, and properly attached to the frame. I suspect that's what Celestspeed will be doing. I, on the other hand, if I get around to it, will be doing it for aesthetics, as I do not track my car.

Im looking for a pic of the underbody of a speed, specifically gen2

Everything from the rear wheels back is a terrible sh1tshow of turbulent air compared to the rest of the underbody that has clearly been thought out equipped with NACA ducts from the factory, i cant believe they did NOTHING with the rear lol!

It will have its perks on track/ at high speed ,but other than that it is purely aesthetic.

It could increase gas mileage a little theoretically..

Yea, as with most kits and wings and spoilers, high speeds need to be obtained for them to work properly. The GTR-35 spoiler doesn't take full effect until 120 km/h I believe.

its for high speed stability. less violent air pressure changes under the car that could cause weird driving characteristics. they use them on very light races cars since there wasnt enough weight in the rear (even with spoiler) to keep that turbulent air down. but since they added a diffuser, the pressure changes under the car was reduced and the spoiler could do its job more efficiently. this diffuser eventually made it to some high end production cars. some versions of diffusers included channels and fins that ran parallel with the car to help straight line stability.

there are many kinds of diffuser designs that give different characteristics. anywhere from straight line stability to negative pressure (acts like a vacuum to suck the car down)

Aero typically becomes effective after 80kph.

The main function of a rear diffuser on our chassis would be to decrease drag.

Combined with a front splitter and you will create some downforce.

Spoilers on road cars are not there to provide large amounts of downforce, they are there to aid the air flow over the car providing a more stable rear end, not a rear end that gets PUSHED into the ground at speed.

Spoilers have to be placed up above the turbulent air coming off the roof to provide lots of downforce.

So with a smooth rear underbody the hatchback wing should work alot better/provide useful downforce..

I could see the wing risers like some other cars use being useful on the hatch too.
