    Default Deleting a resonator on a Speed3

Just wondering if anyone has deleted one of their resonators and did it cause any problems with their car...any running, idling or performance issues? I'm not looking for power gain just alittle deeper exhaust sound.
Hope to hear from someone soon and thank you in advance.

Resonator's don't matter, delete away. It's the two catalytic converters that you need to be careful about.

just dont start talking about blocking off your BPV and getting a mazdaspeed stage 1 PCM reflash and you will be okay.

glad you are actually willing to learn, i have a few SRT buddies and they are the most clueless bunch i know lol.

    welcome to the forum!

as SomeGuy said above, no problems getting rid of the resonator, probably the best $40 mod you can make..

the speed drones from the factory, res delete does make it a bit more pronounced.

its a quiet low drone, not like a honda on the highway : O but it is there.

EDIT: i have a genpu...not sure what year OP's car is.. genwon may be different.

What difference do you notice by deleating the res?

I think ill try one first I don't want to much of a drone, because if anyone knows that 03-05 srts they know their exhausts can be drony especially if its a straight 3" like mine was so I don't want to go back there.

if you don't want any drone just leave the exhaust how it is.

Would it be a good idea to delete a resonator on an aftermarket exhaust on a NA mazda3?
I'll put down all my mods here so people will know how cool I am!

it has absolutely zero affect on performance and driveability, it simply makes the car a little louder...i dont think it is worth it on a regular 3 really..its up to you.

the speed guys do it because we generally do not benefit from a cat back exhaust until we are maxing out our stock turbo, so it makes more sense for us to remove the resonator for $40 rather than $1000 on a cat back.

if i were you ide get a cat back, or a speed3 exhaust. not a res delete.

Thanks, I have a magnaflow cat back, but I was just looking for a little more gurgling pop and rumble. I chose to get the most modest cat back exhaust there is LOL. No biggie, thought I would ask.

Well if you remove a resonator from your magnaflow you may have exactly what you want!

Yeah I like the stock exhaust sound on our ms3's just want alittle more growl but nothing to serious, I'm not looking for loud or a performance increase ill do that with the propped upgrades, I'm to old for having a blatty loud car unless its a 69 road runner with a 440 6pack that just sits there and shakes lol.

I also have been thinking about doing a reso delete. I replaced the oem cbe with an aftermarket last fall and it sounds great but I know there will be more of a growl if I delete it.
I went to speedy muffler in halifax and they quoted me $150, **** that.. Lol.

@OP if you do end up deleting it let me know where you get it done, if it's cheaper in the valley I'll just head over there

Ok we're talking about deleting resonators on speed3's and n/a 3's in this thread

This is the speed section so lets keep it speed related

Don't delete your resonators on a gen1 speed3 unless you want the car to get pretty loud and sound like a diesel truck

The resonator delete on the gen2 speed3 with te stock exhaust sounds really good once the downpipe is upgraded

Remember when you remove the resonator you have to weld something back in its place.

You can't get a stainless steel test pipe for less than $150 so you can't expect a resonator delete to be super cheap.

All my points were assuming upgraded downpipe
