Whats the best advice you can give to someone tracking their mazda 3 for the first time?

Although locked, I wanted to answer at least this question. So here it is.

1. If you can afford it, take one of the car control/track school courses such as the one offered by Ian Law.

2. Make sure you car is in sound mechanical shape before getting on the track. Most importantly, brakes, tires and suspension. If those fail you, you can hurt yourself and others.

3. Know and understand the limits of your car. See point #1.

4. Don't sign up for those cheap track days just because they are cheap. Usually not well organized and those that show up really won't be looking out for newbies. There's enough proper events that you can participate in safely.

5. Know at least one friend with a CAA membership.

6. Be safe and enjoy yourself.
