    Default 2011mazdaspeeeeeed

Hi TM3, I just wanted to share my stories with my speed and share some pictures as it goes through changes, whether exterior mods or internal mods...

so far, I had the car tinted and visored (good product from g16), but very unfortunate to have a razor scratch from the tinter as he was cutting the film... more of that can be found from this thread I started: http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/sh...o-of-the-new-3

I'm not planning for any performance mods at the moment, mainly because of fund restrictions and I paid a premium for the added bumper to bumper warranty. However, I will gradually make some appearance mods to my liking, but keeping the car "clean" is the key.

Posted a cellphone snapshot for now, get home late from work almost every day, not inspired to pick up the camera. Will post better photos as I find some free time on the weekend. (please excuse the low night ugly noise)

    Enjoy

So I had some recent unfortunate event happening to the car... I had discovered that my roof is rusting at 3 spots from stone chips. Rust started underneath the paint causing some nasty looking webbings.

As I've said in another thread, dealer will not cover under warranty and I don't have a few hundred dollars to be spend on repainting the roof, so I've decided to repair it on my own. So far I've gotten some good tips from fellow TM3s, but I wouldn't mind more suggestions. You can post either here or on the original thread

I would call Mazda Canada about that or try a different dealer. Stone ships do not normally spider web like that.

Yea, this is really stupid. I have since checked out few mazda's in the parking lot, and most of them have this kind of spots appearing. I compared to other brands and they don't really have this problem.

I love the car, but I hate the paint from mazda... I will give Mazda Canada a call, but I doubt they will warranty that.

    More update:
I removed the rust spot to pretty much metal (just at the spot where it is visible, didn't remove any paint yet) and touched it up with a few layers of base and clear. I wonder if this is good until the next spring? Like someone mentioned in the other thread, there is a high chance that my repair might look and be even worse than it is now... Obviously a professional repair will be better, but at $400ish, I have to think twice.

    Thanks guys!

sadly a stone chip is a stone chip, but you do make a good point, i cant exactly remember when i have seen one spider web that way, only guess is its been that way for a while and the rust / perforation built up or water got in some how maybe froze over a winter or two and casued it to go that way. but is is an interesting chip thats for sure, and thats only a guess and hardly an educated one at that

but if you were to speak to mazda canada you should have done so before trying to fix it yourself. i wouldnt think from the picture they will be able to do much now. as if you were to try ad disbute it as a defect and not a chip, if it was not obvious from a photo they may have sent a rep out. or that is what we have seen in the past.

Got a Magnaflow CBE last night and looking to install it myself. I did some research and it seems the ECU need to be reset by removing the negative terminal of battery during installation. The ECU will readjust to the new CBE after ECU reset.

In this process, what should I be aware of to make sure everything goes correctly?

Also, if someone has a video link or write up for removing the stock Speed3 exhaust that would be much appreciated!!

    THanks

After patiently waited for the confirmation, I was told by Mazda Canada that they had approved my request for warranty work to fix my rusted roof. Booked appointment with dealer bodyshop next Monday, so will have everything fixed in a few days! Super excited! Props to Mazda brand!!

Keep the exhaust & save for AP, & other important parts such as HPFP.
