    Default Front Right clunk

Before I take it into the shop and have it inspected, hopefully someone can give me a better idea of what the problem is.

I had just put in brand new shocks/struts/springs at Jimmys approx. 5 months ago, ( Spaxx Springs, Koni Yellows)

In the past week I have noticed the front right has a loud clunk when going over speed bumps etc, it is quite noticeable

My first thought was the front strut (shock?) had fallen out of its "hole" in the engine bay, I know someone else had posted that problem with brand new components that were not properly installed.

Any other things I can check with the vehicle on the ground, before going into a shop?

    Thanks

Nope has to be in the air. All you can do is make sure the spring is seated properly

    Dangit.

My friend mentioned the 'top cap' coming loose, common issue?

    Thanks!

Last week I started getting similar problem... but front left.
    It comes and goes.

Its a low gurgling noise.. and happens at low parking and city speeds, irregardless of bumps, turning or braking - its always there.

Only change I made recently was to tighten strut mounts and replace a stud in front-left wheel.

What I've found this noise to be is the metal portion of the strut mount hitting the top of the shock tower. These struts mounts are garbage and flex too much.

My solution: Get the front wheels off of the ground to open up the gap a little and fill the void with windshield urethane. Let it cure for 24 hrs and it will get rid of the clunk and tighten the suspension up, too.

Check the brake pads and make sure they are seated in the caliper housing properly. I had a "clicking" sound (metal on metal) coming from my car and I realized that the two dimples on the pad were not perfectly aligned to the piston on the caliper and caused free play when going over bumps etc... I made some videos of it trying to figure it out if it helps. Listen for the clicking sound when I go over the speed hump.

When it drops below 0, I am having problems as well with clanking/clunking.

It seems to be coming from both the front and the rear as the car goes up/down anything sudden like a speed bump or a dip in the road.

Any ideas of what it could be? I am thinking sway bar bushings and/or end links.. I checked the links and they are tight but who knows.

Does anyone know our cars really really well that could help me out?

The rattle would be coming from the anti-rattle clips. Get new ones and it'll fix that problem; really easy and cheap fix.

There is no clips on the rear that meets the piston. I said what my problem was and resolved it.

The clips are on the brakes. I had rattling and that's what it was.. But the clanking and clunking is still unresolved for me.

There is no retaining clip on the pad hence it being loose. There is clips on the front but not the back...

I have anti-rattle clips on the front and the back.. if you have 4 rotors, you should have the same.

The clips in the rear will not eliminate the rattle if you didn't align the dimples in backing plate with the piston. I learnt the hard way.

Ha forgot all about this thread.

Took it into the shop and they said one of the bolts was loose, I guess Jimmy didn't tighten them up all the way?

    Quick easy fix
