Default a couple questions regarding routine maintenence

So ill make this short and simple

    1) I need ( im pretty sure i may have accidently neglected them a bit too much ) to replace my front rotors. How much will the dealer charge for just the part ( getting it installed elsewhere) with the tm3 discount? is it worth it or are there rotors out there that will give me equivalent braking performance?
    2) I am unsure if I need new spark plugs or not. Im currently at 123,000 kms and was wondering if new spark plugs are needed ( as per the mazda maintenance schedule) or should I just wait until they give me real trouble ( My dad recommends I wait for something to go bad) . Any specific brand you guys would recommend??

    thanks

    1) OEM pads/rotors are great and predictable. You'll spend just as much on quality aftermarket rotors and not really gain anything. Go OEM. Where do you intend on having them installed? It's an easy job, cheaper to DIY. Why have you decided you need rotors?

    2) You don't need to rush to get them done but they should be changed eventually and better to do them before you have serious problems (misfires, etc)...you'll get slightly better fuel economy/performance if your plugs are worn and have build up but otherwise no big deal. I just did my dad's plugs on his 3 at the same sort of mileage and they still looked to be in good shape. You could just pull all the plugs and check them out. Again, the OEM's are good (but expensive, don't buy at dealer)...they are NGK Iridium's which are actually a very good plug.

My front brakes (rotors and pads) lasted till 130K. I got 17% off the factory rotors from the Mazda dealer in Hamilton (there are 2 and both offer same discount).

I changed my spark plugs @135K and they still worked fine and looked good. Went with OEM (NGK Laser Iridium) pricy at $20+ a pop! but should be good for the cars' lifetime.

regarding #1 : The brake pedal vibrates when braking which equals to ( atleast I hope) a warped rotor ( not sure if both are done or not) .... Its been happening for quite a few months actually but Ive been too busy to actually take a look at them... so I think they should be replaced ASAP now.

regarding #2 I guess Ill have to check them myself ... Going to a friends place sometime and get this checked out ... id do it myself but I dont think i have the right socket etc....

Havent really noticed a significant decrease in fuel economy... only the expected drop you get from the cold temperatures/ wintergas...

Iirc the manual states 150k for the plugs and they don't need servicing. I had asked the question once as well.
As for the socket you can stop by and borrow one if you like.

Oh and I have the prices from prima written here somewhere. ill take a look tomorrow but I think it was around $400 for front pads and rotors. Parts only.

Brake pedal or steering wheel? Vibration in the pedal is ABS Steering wheel is rotors.

Checking out the plugs is the cheapest option, just use this is a guide...if any one of them is bad, given your mileage just replace the set.

    What year is your car?

My manual say to change spark plugs every 120,000km

Replacement interval for spark plugs is 120,000kms.
Replacing front pads and rotors should be 400-500 dollars, depending on which pads you get (first or second line) and what the hourly rate of the dealer is.

sorry I meant steering wheel ( you get the idea )

thanks for the help everyone! Ill have to inspect the brake discs first to see if both have gone bad... ( i should probably replace both at the same time though...)
